219 days until the beginning of the 2015 regular season!

Postby Everlong » Feb 02, '15, 10:50 am

Let the countdown begin! The 2015 season will kick off in Foxboro, Massachusetts. We won't know the Patriots' opening night opponent for another few months yet, but damn. 219 days, feels so far away.

Only a month until March Madness begins. :tim

NFL draft after that although I guess it depends on how big of a fan you are of the process. Maybe fans of teams who always win don't care but dammit, we do. :lol

NBA playoffs are a fucking blast. So it won't be too bad. The only period that REALLY sucks is mid June to August. The only major sport around with NFL, NBA, NHL, College Football, and College Basketball finished with is baseball (no offense baseball fans but it just isn't very fun to watch to me) and it isn't even like we're talking about the World Series, just their regular season. It is terrible. The only plus is that this break comes during the summer.

I'm really looking forward to that Veterans Combine thing that the NFL is kicking off. I wonder who will show up for that?

Tim Tebow. :P

I dream of the day where I don't have to care about the NFL draft.

I'm trying to look at the upcoming free agency list to see who will probably be invited. Three contenders off the top of my head:

Greg Hardy - Coming off a year where he played only one game due to suspension. His trial is set for some time next week so the verdict will have a huge impact on his payday or if a team will sign him at all since he will probably be suspended 6 games next year if found guilty. It would take a long time for a team to come around to signing him, so he would probably be invited to the combine to show he has still kept himself in shape.

Tim Tebow - I would be surprised if he wasn't invited. I think the NFL will try their best to not turn this into a joke, which is why guys who in no way will be signed like Owens and Ochocinco won't be invited, but they will want some star power and Tebow is one of the most popular athletes you will find.

Kerry Rhodes - No idea if he is retired or not. Only 32 years old. Some thought he was/is being blacklisted because he is gay.

I expect a lot of guys who have been out of the league for awhile or are old with questions about their physical condition (Michael Roos for example) to show up.

Well, I have my tennis all season. Can't wait for baseball to start up in a few weeks. March Madness and NBA Playoffs should be good, as should the Stanley Cup playoffs as usual.

Man I'm gonna miss the NFL. Sundays just aren't the same without it. At least the NHL season is in full swing though and the trade deadline and race for the playoffs isn't that far away. Late-winter and spring hockey are the best hockey outside the Olympics and World Juniors. Should help keep me from going crazy until my domestic rugby season starts in April/May and dominates my weekends.

Also the CFL season starts in June/July if any of y'all are interested in watching something that isn't baseball in the summer. ESPN usually has some games I believe. It's not the NFL but it's a fun league and fun rules. Mostly on ESPN 3 but I've seen some games listed as ESPN 2. I'd personally recommend cheering on the Edmonton Eskimos because I'm completely not biased. Though if you like heartbreak you could side with Brett and cheer on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers but who wants to do that.
