When you are talking scoring defense it absolutely says a lot, however that's not usually how defenses are ranked. Usually it's yards per game. That list is far worse...
Houston Texans (2-5)
Seattle Seahawks (6-1)
Carolina Panthers (3-3)
NY Jets (4-3)
KC Chiefs (7-0)
Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4)
Cleveland Browns (3-4)
SF Niners (5-2)
Most of that list is abysmal.
Also, you can do the same thing for the offense...
Denver Broncos (6-1)
Chicago Bears (4-3)
Dallas Cowboys (4-3)
GB Packers (4-2)
Seattle Seahawks (6-1)
NO Saints (5-1)
Indy Colts (5-2)
Detroit Lions (4-3)
The top 8 defenses average a 5-2 record and the top 8 offenses average a 5-2 record so it's an even matchup. Of course if you are elite on one side of the ball you are going to be pretty good and have a pretty good record.
