I'll try to get the standings updated to reflect the playoffs within the next couple days. For now though, it's time to send in your Super Bowl picks.
NOTE: I'm going to have a separate Super Bowl game for the entire site, rather than just the people who have been taking part in this picks league. More info on that in a new thread to come shortly.
SUPER BOWL XLVIII: Denver Broncos (15-3) vs. Seattle Seahawks (15-3), DEN by 2.5 - There really is no true underdog here. For the first time in NFL history, the #1 offense in both yards and points faces off against the #1 defense in both yards and points in the league's championship game. You can't argue that the league's two best teams aren't playing in this game. It should be a doozy.
And really, because of how even the matchup is, it's almost impossible for me to choose a winner. Seattle has basically overcome their road woes, so it's kind of hard to say that them playing on the road will impact them at all. In fact, if it's a cold game, it may very well go in Seattle's favor. You also can't use the "Super Bowl experience" argument for either team, because almost nobody in this game has ever played in a Super Bowl before (it's a stupid argument anyway, so no big deal). In the end, it's going to come down to which team makes more mistakes. I expect Peyton Manning to be at the top of his game. However, I could see a couple crucial calls against Seattle's defense to be a huge factor in this game, given their penchant for over-aggressiveness. Peyton will test the Seahawks' handsy defense and pick up a couple big interference calls that could wind up being the difference in this game.
Should be a good one. Can't wait!
Broncos 27, Seahawks 24
NOTE: A correct pick is worth TEN POINTS. A correct upset is worth TWENTY.
