Yesterday was a sad day for all Browns fans and NFL fans in general. Not because the Browns lost their 23rd game out of the past 24. That's become happenstance. No, what was sad was the play in the third quarter when Joe Thomas blocked a Titans defender and tore his triceps. When Thomas left the game, it was the first play on offense that the legendary Hall of Fame offensive tackle missed since the Browns drafted him before the 2007 season. That's right, 10.5 years, 10,363 plays and Joe Thomas hadn't missed a play until yesterday, all the while playing at an All-Pro level every year. It is believed to be the longest streak in NFL history.
Cleveland Browns fans don't often have a reason of pride, but Joe Thomas was definitely one thing this franchise got right since 1999.
