Rivers is in the last year of his contract and refuses to negotiate with the Chargers on an extension. The Chargers want to move to Los Angeles, Rivers is apparently a religious southern man that wants no part of raising his family in the trappings of LA. So if the Chargers do end up moving Rivers will want out immediately. That's why Tennessee is the team talked about to make sense for him. He can go back to the south and be closer to his original hometown.
The is one of those rare occasions where real life and a player's personality clashes with sports reality. So if the Chargers are losing Rivers after this year and they can get a first round pick for him, well they might as well do it.
