Quick recap since I am at work, Watkins went to the team I believe he will go to and Clowney went later than I expected. Tim you better have a good one at 10 or else I will write a strongly worded post. :lol

I'm not 100% sold on Manziel being a top ten talent, but the pick makes sense, especially given the way teams seem to be salivating about Manziel at this point.

Haven't decided who I'm picking for the Lions yet, but I'll probably be going defense.

With the 9th pick of the 2014 Draft The Buffalo ShaneOfans select...

Eric Ebron, TE, out of North Carolina

Image

Bills need line help and I had considered taking Taylor Lewman here, but this draft is fairly deep for linemen. Another main need we have is receiving. Right now the the most likely starters are Stevie Johnson, Mike Williams, and Robert Woods. With Graham and Goodwin in the #4 and 5 slots. Not a bad corps. But we lack at TE. Right now we have Scott Chandler, a 6'7'' 250 guy with a case of the dropsies as our go to guy. He isn't bad but he needs help and I don't feel he is a true #1 TE. I think Ebron can be that #1 guy we need. He is damn athletic and while he also needs to work on his hand work I think he is easier to teach then Chandler. Honestly if I were in charge of the draft, I would try to trade down at this point but in keeping the pick Ebron is the smartest choice.

I like the selection of Ebron here for the Bills. It might be a bit high for a tight end, but he should definitely make an impact and give EJ Manuel a security blanket as he grows up as the quarterback of the team. Also, if the other guy you are thinking about is Taylor Lewan who has off the field concerns and plays soft on the field going away from him is a smart choice.

Exactly my thoughts with Lewman. There are other OL guys in the draft, are they as good? Maybe, maybe not but they don't have the baggage Lewman has. Would I be disappointed if the Bills took him? Not treally I guess he is a great athlete but he has a lot to develop. I think Ebron is the best choice at the moment.

With the 10th pick in the PubTalkForum 2014 Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions select...

Image

JUSTIN GILBERT. Cornerback. Oklahoma State.

This isn't exactly a shocking selection; lots of mock drafts have the Lions taking Gilbert at 10. But it's for good reason -- the Lions' secondary was absolutely appalling last year, and Gilbert is a playmaker who could make an instant impact on that defense. Gilbert is remarkably athletic, has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and has great height and arm length for the position. He's also a threat on kick and punt returns. Basically, Gilbert really resembles Patrick Peterson; not saying he'll wind up being as successful, but they're built of the same mold. From what I remember seeing of Gilbert he's very physical in coverage as well, which can be taken as either a strength or weakness depending on how you see it. I think this is basically a no-brainer selection for the Lions at 10.

Gilbert is an interesting selection for the Lions just in terms of the timing. Basically everything I've seen this week about the Lions is their desire to build the best receiving corps in the league by adding either Sammy Watkins in a trade up or a guy like Mike Evans or Marqise Lee at 10. It's an interesting perspective at this point that they would add a corner.

They could definitely use a legit #2 receiver but I feel like that secondary is a much greater position of need for them. They only had one corner make a single pick last year, and their leader in interceptions (with only 3) isn't even on the team any more. They desperately need a guy back there who can compete with the Brandon Marshalls/Alshon Jefferys/Greg Jennings/Randall Cobbs/Jordy Nelsons of the division.

Yeah I can't disagree with your logic, It's looking at other predictions I'm not sure it's going to happen (remember not every team will wind up making a good pick in the first round). Also, the other option is going Greatest Show on Turf route and just try to outscore the other teams in the NFC North.

I agree more with Tim on this one. Although I don't believe we will be drafting Gilbert. By the time the 10th pick comes around both Watkins and Evans will be off the board (the ladder going to Tampa). The Lions only value those 2 WRs as viable top 10 talent. Gilbert is a very good talent with versatility, but I personally think Dennard is better. With that said I would not take either in the top 10. The Lions, if they keep the pick, will draft Ha-Ha Clinton Dixs or Anthony Barr. In a perfect world we would trade Suh and a third rounder for a top 5 pick so we can draft Watkins or Mack and then defense at 10, but that won't happen. The Lions will likely trade back and take Gilbert or Dennard, but since we aren't doing trades I see Clinton Dix being the pick.

^^Clinton-Dix was the other one I was considering, I think Gilbert is a better all-around talent though.

Safety is a bigger need for the Lions at least in terms of lack of depth. Delmas is gone and Ihedibo is the Raven's leftover. We have drafted 4 corners the past 2 years so if we draft another he better stick. I personally want a linebacker because I think it can turn a defense around quicker. Think Clay Matthews even though the Packers secondary isn't great. That's why I want to trade up for Mack. IMO Mack is the best player in this draft. He is Von Miller without the headache and a better guy in coverage.

The Tennessee Titans select...

Image

ANTHONY BARR, OLB, UCLA

Tennessee is extremely lacking when it comes to pass rushers and Barr has the potential to become the best pure pass rusher from the 3-4 OLB position in the entire draft. With fantastic athleticism, Barr still has a good amount he needs to work on (strength) but Barr should be top value for Tennessee at this point.

Anthony Barr is a great pick here. This is one of those picks where it's possible to see a team trade up a few spots, to take him. He's the next best LB in this draft by far, and a few teams drafting later in the 1st round could absolutely use him.

Tim, what do you think about Green Bay or New Orleans making a surprise move, if Barr drops this far?

You mean trading up?

I think Ted has traded up only once in the first round in his 8 drafts with the Packers, so I'd be shocked to see him do it. But then again, we did just sign a big name free agent, so I feel like literally anything could happen at this point :lol

The New York Giants select...

Image

Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Taylor Lewan would be a steal for the Giants at No. 12, as they need a left tackle and Lewan has the ability to be a very good one in the NFL if he can improve his strength. The Giants still have plenty of question marks along their offensive line with Will Beatty coming back from a broken leg. Taylor is a very good technician as a run-blocker and has quick feet and hands as a pass protector.

Sorry for taking so long to get yesterday's pick up, had a busy weekend so far. Lewan to the Giants makes sense to help boost their offensive line, even if I'm not sold on how good of a pro he'll actually turn out to be.

DBSoT you are on the clock for the pick today of the Rams.
