England fans attacked by Russian and French fans in Marseille

Many sources say it was an unprovoked attack, some even saying it was an ambush. One guy is criticially injured and received CPR at the scene, several others have received medical treatment. Apparently French 'ultras' were involved too.

After the England vs Russia game, some Russian fans began to attack English fans again, many of which had to climb over fences to safety. Plenty of videos are doing the rounds on Twitter.

Can't wait for Russia 2018...

Russian media are praising the acts of the Russians and blaming the English:

I think there's enough video footage of Russians instigating violence and English fans running away to safety to dismiss that claim.

Woeful police security between the two sets of fans - well, there was none besides a makeshift barrier and a few security wardens. UEFA will take action as it was in the stadium but considering their previous, they should be on a final warning or be booted out of the competition but it's UEFA, so they won't. A fine will be enough...

Poor on ITV not to cover anything post match, added to their poor coverage was Tyldesley's line after England scored "justice for the England 11!"

England fans have probably been guilty of behaving poorly over the last few days but today seemed to be orchestrated by Russians and French ultras. In fact Polish/NI fans were caught up thanks to French ultras lurking around.

The "justice for the England 11" line was just completely cringe worthy.

Russians beating the shit out the English:

The French police have been laughable so far. Minimal presence and their only enforcement has been throwing tear gas at people running away from attacks.

So two English fans jailed in France for 2 and 3 months. Russian hooligans in Marseille were 150 yet no arrests or charges. Sounds like the English will be an ideal scapegoat for the overall poor handling of the issues here. Not to say England fans were all saints but the organisation of the Russian gangs is scary considering the next WC is in Russia.

Embarrassing for all nations involved. Football fans need to remember that when they travel for a tournament, like the players, they are representing their home nations and should behave as such. Not only that, but quite frankly the police have bigger fish to fry at present, there's a real threat of terror out there and they don't need their resources being sucked up by idiots causing needless trouble.

I don't really care who started what, just sick of brainless asshat hooligans ruining the experience for everyone else and bringing shame on their respective countries.

People are actually going to die in the streets at the next World Cup. FIFA know this and must act now.
