Euro 2016 thread

Watching France vs Romania currently. I was expecting France to be a goal or two up by now but Romania have made a decent account of themselves so far. France have a solid team this time around and should be looking at winning the tournament, especially as they have the home advantage too.

Unfortunately ITV still have Andy Townsend employed. He's talking so highly of Kante that I wouldn't be surprised if he went downstairs at half time and noshed him off.

Decent first half, nothing special. Giroud should've scored that header.

Found the first half pretty damn dull tbh, so I've decided to play Overwatch instead of watching the rest. Expect France should bag a goal or two and finish it off though they really should have been ahead by now. I'll probably stick around more for the BBC fixtures since the coverage will be a tad less shite. :P

Slaven Bilic's hair reminded me of my lawn when parts of the grass dries out and goes grey and the lush green grass on the outskirts..

But on the game - Payet was immense, really revelled playing in a more central role. Pogba was OK with a few good touches in the first half but he played lot deep than I thought he would, seems that he wants to orchestrate from deep. Martial for Giroud though, latter should have put France up before he eventually scored.

England hooligans deciding to add to France's problems it seems...

So glad this tournament has arrived, a little something that will help this fasting month go a tad quicker!

ITV's policy on international football coverage seems to be "find as many people who are the walking embodiment of the colour beige as possible."

Lorik Cana with the funniest handball I've seen in some time: https://streamable.com/i2it

The old "I didn't handball it ref, I was unconscious" defence.

We just got robbed, fucking hell.

Any idea what the loud bang was near the end of the match? One of my mates is at the game, he says it's all kicking off now.

Think the Russians set off a flare of some kind right before the bang. Seen some clips of the Russians attacking the English fans.

I honestly thought it was an explosion, similiar to the one in November's attack at the Stade de France but as Porky said, it was a flare designed to let Russian fans know to start attacking..

On the game, England played really well in the first half yet they failed to take advantage of a poor Russian side. There was a great feel about the team then second half, went pear shaped. Rooney taken off unnecessarily (can see what Hodgson was thinking, bring Wilshere for 'control' but would have been better taking off Alli) and same defensive approach. Their goal was well taken by their defender. Nothing to be massively worried about though, England should get through with a draw on Thursday and beating Slovakia but latter should vs Wales, they can cause a few alarms in the opposition's defence.

Hamsik, had he buried that early chance would have put Wales under the cosh and they had their moments but Wales dug in enough to grab that second, slightly fortuitous, goal.

Clive Tyldesley getting carried away for England's goal - "Justice for the England 11!"

Huge 3 points for Italy. Belgium were the better team in the second half and Italy were really struggling to contain them at times, but they held on. Italy will probably win the group now, especially after the other match ended in a draw. Fantastic finish from Pelle.

Ronaldo has really embarrassed himself last night - not only with his poor performance and missing sitters but criticising Iceland's style but they had the last word post-match and tbh, it takes away from Ronaldo's ability with these childish comments..

England v Wales tomorrow at 2pm - work is manic with an office move but hope to be watching it online. Going for a draw.

Harsh on Albania, they made a decent account of themselves there. Payet is class.

Joe Hart - laps up the tunnel camera and showing he's "up for it" then fucks up on Bale's free kick.

Hodgson has a talented striking team who got him out of jail.

Disgraceful scenes in the Czech Republic vs Croatia game. That steward is lucky to still have two hands.

Security is a joke. If flares can make their way in, nothing stopping something more serious making its way to cause carnage.

Hodgson hasn't got a clue has he..

His post-match comments were deluded - boasting about possession when the other team didn't want the ball, they hardly battered the Slovakia goal besides a few saves their keeper made. Clyne performed well I thought but why not name a full strength team, win, then take players off when the job is done.

McGovern was great against Germany today, made some class saves. Heard he's a free agent too, I'd definitely have him at Villa if he's capable of performances like that on the regular.

Hodgson should go after this tournament. He's a tactical dinosaur and his record in tournaments is pretty disappointing. We wasted 3 points against Russia, scraped past Wales due to a 90th minute winner and were shut out by Slovakia. Not good enough.

Yeah, it seems pretty cool. My Facebook is blowing up with people freaking out about the result. Kinda makes me wish this was a sport I gave a fuck about. :lol

A higher up in my company said that if we win the tournament, everyone gets an extra two weeks holidays. Safest bet he ever made, but if only for that reason, I really hope we manage to stay in the tournament as long as possible.

Hoolahan with the cross. Brady with the goal. If they'd done that more for Norwich last year maybe we wouldn't have been relegated.
