Payet seems like a good signing for West Ham, good goal tonight and Schteve is under bit of early pressure at Newcastle. TBF, he was fortunate to get the job after the way Derby faltered end of last season..

Not a great night - injury to Shaw takes precedence more than the defeat. Fucking awful challenge by Moreno and the knob goes onto score. Credit to Shaw's mental strength he's tweeting positively about the comeback already; but do hope it doesn't result in any long-term damage as it has done for Valencia who was a useless sub tonight.

I thought we played well tonight; the final third play was more positive - seemed to be players were happy to run with the ball rather than pass back and the attack breaks down. Not a good night defensively and Wolfsburg winning whom we play next at OT, won't be easy. A draw would have been a nice result to take home.

At least Blind is capable at LB but had a poor showing tonight but Shaw's left hand energy will be massively missed..

Shame Costa seems to prefer plaudits/comments on his niggly, antagonistic aspects of his game than goals. Gabriel fell for it though. Guarantee if this Arsenal team of 2004 that included Vieira/Silva/Campbell was in place, they'd have made sure they pricked away at Costa to get him sent off.

Early days yet, should do enough to get you safe but going to take time to get adjusted post-Benteke. Gestede's signing was notable but not played much. Oh yes, Lescott finally got round to joining Villa - reminded me of that video last season doing the rounds when he was visiting the children's hospital and bantering with a Villa fan.

Martial Mathers

Don't know what happened to Southampton but establisher killed them I think. Martial is such a more promising option than Rooney in his short time so far but need to look after him as well. Handle his workload. LVG sub of Rojo was more due to building fitness but nearly could have backfired

Yesterday result required a win today. Defence changes slightly worrying, need to get stability in that department after the changes.

Decent performance by Norwich today. We still need a new CB and a new RB (Whittaker was toremnted by Moreno all afternoon) but out midfield is so much stronger than it was two years ago, and that's after selling our player of the season. We move the ball much better, but we're just lacking an incisive striker who can make things happen ... Cameron Jerome works hard but isn't it.

First loss of the season tonight in the League Cup against St. Johnstone. It hurts, we'd been absolutely flying before tonight with 11 wins from 11 but we had to lose eventually.

Rangers had plenty of possession and looked very dangerous at times but that doesn't count for anything. Our defense was absolutely pedestrian tonight and they saw two go by them on the counter attack along with a shocking mistake having nobody on the edge of the box for a corner. For all the time we had on the ball we simply couldn't do the business up top to compensate, when the Saints compressed there was rarely a moment of danger.

Fair play to them, they did exactly what they had to and they're in the hat for the next round. Rangers have a lot to improve upon before they're ready to move up a level from dominating the Championship every week. It's a very young team, 23 I think is the average age, a lot of experience to be gained and a lot of lessons to be learned.

Has Wenger signed Cech to only play him in the PL?

Woeful start for their campaign and Chelsea are losing to Porto.
