Raring to go for the season man! Warburton's done a blinder of a job rebuilding Rangers, as evidenced by our demolition of Hibs that I wrote about last week. Makes me think this season is going to be a fun time, should be comfortable promotion with perhaps a cheeky wee Scottish Cup run.

Can't wait for the Gunners to place third again this year...

Every year I like to think the momentum we have at the end of last season will continue into the next, but every year I'm disappointed by our results either at the beginning or in the middle of the season. Maybe this year will be different? Aside from Cech coming in, all our players have built up a good chemistry. Sanchez will be a wrecking ball and maybe this will be the year (or was it last year? Maybe the year after this?...) that Giroud will come into his own as a reliable and consistent striker. Maybe Welbeck will make a difference in games that aren't against Man U? Maybe Wilshere can last a whole season without being injured? Maybe I'm asking too much...

I heard Villa are aiming for the lofty heights of 16th place this season. Can't wait.

Cannot wait! Can't even rely on Australia to drag Test matches into the latter end to keep me entertained.

Community Shield Sunday then next week it's back baby!

Optimism around United after the three signings on the bounce has waned as of late. Uncertainty over future of De Gea, lack of striking options besides Rooney (even now he won't bag the 30 plus goals he got in 09/10), and bizarre move to play Blind at left CB and then to discard Smalling ahead of Jones who has a got mistake in him, makes the season a tad worrying.

We're meant to be in for Jussi Jaaskelainen, I'd be chuffed if we managed it. Even at 40 he'd still be a terrific coup for a League 1 side - calm, experienced, vocal...he's exactly what we need. We're also apparently looking at buying a centre-back - buying! We've not actually paid for a player in almost a decade! Dare I say I'm dangerously optimistic for the coming season...

Villa's potential strikeforce next season is Berbatov and Adebayor :lol

It seems the rights for La Liga in the UK are heading to BT Sport. Sky got ticked off by the whole thing and pulled out. Only thing they have to show on SS5 is Dutch football/international football and endless European based repeats.

Sky probably hoping BT Sport crash and burn soon like other rivals like Setanta did..

Not sure how that would happen! La Liga and the Champions League will see BT Sport's rise continue - I like their coverage to be honest, Michael Owen aside.

Yeah wishful thinking but it's what old Rupert's thinking..

BT Sport line-up has a Champions League winner in the pundit team this year........Rio Ferdinand! :P (and yes, Stevie G!)

Filthy goal by Benteke, great way to start his Liverpool career.

Comfortable win again for Rangers in the League Cup, James Tavernier looks a hell of a player.

Some thoughts from Villa vs Bournemouth:

- Jordan Amavi was outstanding. He's destined for big things - still only 21.
- Micah Richards was solid, as was Ciaran Clark. Clark is one of the most underrated center backs in the league.
- Idrissa Gueye is a more than adequate replacement for Fabian Delph.
- Agbonlahor is absolutely shocking. I'm not even sure he'd perform in the Championship.
- Villa still need a couple more signings - a right back and a versatile winger are priorities. Could do with a few departures as well, such as N'Zogbia, Tonev, probably Sanchez as well.

Have not missed premier league referees.

Fucking awful decision making today.

Played pretty well despite the scoreline. Martin is a terrible CB. Awful positioning and awareness and Bassong is not nearly fast enough to cover him. Whittaker got torn apart by Zaha too because he's not quick enough. Johnson reverted to form. Can't pass and he made the upper tier his personal shooting gallery.

Redmond needs to start. Hrs twice the player he was last season and he's finally getting the goals. Striking options are limited in this league. Grabban has great movement but needs a ton of chances to finish one. Jerome is fine but not a leading striker. Hopper can finish but offers fuck all else. RVW has qualities but his confidence is in the toilet.

Need a new striker, centre back and an attacking midfielder still.

I haven't seen the incidents, but when I heard you lot had a goal disallowed and a clear penalty shout turned down, I did spare a thought for you.

I'm glad you lot are back in the league, I do have a soft spot for Norwich. I think it was Delia's "Where are you!" speech that did it for me. Never forget.

United played like shit the whole match and still get 3 points. If it wasn't for Walker's own goal, Spurs are just frustrating to watch when you want them to win. Fucking hell.

Villa won though so I'm alive in the survivor picks :tim

Fuck Chelsea. Cunts.

They should have had a player sent off too. Horrendous tackle on Dorrans in the first few minutes, studded him right in the shins.
