It's always great seeing America re-establish its superiority over the rest of the world.

Lloyd vs Japan. Part of me wanted to see a closer more entertaining game, but the win is still sweet.

I didn't even know it was the final already. I had no idea who was playing either. Did Japan make it to the final?

Women's football is mostly ignored here, the media give it no attention. The most coverage it's gotten in my lifetime was a few days ago when England scored a crazy own goal and got knocked out. It's almost as if the tournament ended then, as I can't recall ever hearing about who had made it to the final and when the final was being played. That's quite shit.

Fair play to the USA, hopefully this victory continues to increase the profile of the sport over there.

Brilliant, it's a shame we got knocked out in the Semi's, an England vs USA final would have been immense. At least we beat Germany in the third place play offs though.

Over the last 3-4 years there's been a huge increase in support of the sport here, both on an international level and just in the MLS teams. The women's soccer team here was getting almost as much of a following as the men's team was last year, that's something that NEVER would have happened 4-5 years ago.

It's a lot of people my age who have grown up with the sport and are really becoming die hards. Milwaukee (where I live) especially is really getting invested in soccer, even though we don't have an MLS team anywhere near (fuck rooting for Chicago in anything!).

Soccer definitely continues to gain momentum here. They just still need to make broadcasts of MLS games more accessible.
