January transfer window thread

Postby PorkChop » Jan 06, '15, 7:14 pm

The latest - Man City are in advanced talks to sign Wilfried Bony, the price being quoted is about £30 million. Liverpool are reportedly planning a big offer for Saido Berahino, and Villa look like losing both Delph and Vlaar but are in the race to sign Scott Sinclair.

What business do you hope to see your club do in this window?

Valdes set to join Manchester United on an 18 month deal. He had been training with the team for a few months now.

Considering it's probably inevitable that DDG joins the crocked list at some point, having Valdes around isn't a bad move at all.

It's an 18th month deal so will provide cover and IF - and I hope it doesn't come to that - the club continue to waste time and allow Real to get into DDG's head and latter decides he would like a move then Valdes would be a decent replacement,

But the club really need to get a move on with the DDG's contract - luckily it hasn't affected his form and on the contrary, seems to have spurred him on training with his national team mate but I just worry Real beginning their usual newspaper mindgames and getting into DDG's head....but his family seem happy in Manchester so might calm him down rather than encourage him to go back to Spain.

Hopefully Arsenal sign a DM and a CB. Looks like they are doing that with Loic Perrin and Krystian Bielik. Heard good things about both of them. Still need an established DM though, Morgan Schneiderlin would be ideal. I just hope we don't spend £60m! on Cavani. Poverty player.

It seems Villa have agreed a fee with Valencia for Carles Gil. I don't know too much about him but he's supposedly an attacking midfielder, which is what Villa have been crying out for since 2011.

I pray to Jesus he's half decent.

I liked the fee, £3.25m. I can imagine Lerner at his desk, scrimping and saving for every penny on that fee and Lambert sat with him ("I think that's excellent) with a wide smile.

That Carlos Sanchez hasn't been a success, hardly seen him play.

Our back four are shit enough already, and we've only just started scoring goals again. Besides that, we have a different Scotsman in charge now, and he's a little bit easier to understand.

Markovic continued his decent run at the weekend, scoring the winner for Liverpool and continuing to prove @AkyDefGoldberg wrong in his wildy unfair assumption he'd be the worst signing of the season. Surely that accolade now belongs with Mangala/Falcao?

Haha, well if he carries on his small bursts of promise then yeah, will take it back but shame he's beginning to end a correct prediction by me. He looks decent but for £20m, you expect more in the same way United have yet to see the best of Herrera.

I agree in principle but these players like Markovic and Herrera were bought with the next few years in mind, not to deliver the good right away. Balotelli/Falcao are probably the two worst signings of the season because they were bought to do the business straight away, I'd say Mario is the worst of the lot but we didn't pay a 65 million loan fee or whatever it was for him.

I probably was kinda teasing when I said Markovic at the start of the season, it was kind of an easy name to pick but Falcao hasn't done badly compared to Balotelli or even Welbeck (in terms of league goals) but I don't think LVG has helped him by refusing not to drop his favourite RVP and give Falcao the role as a single striker. Falcao was amazing at Atletico when he was the man up top but RVP turns into a selfish nob when partnered with Falcao/Wilson. Falcao won't stay permanently but think he'll grab a few more goals. He's tried his best but think just that last knee injury and subsequent quick-time recovery has fucked him up.

Also, nice to see Ravel Morrison linked with a club that will help him calm down......Lazio.
