Freddy Adu has just been released by FK Jagodina, a Serbian first division team. He failed to play a single minute for them despite being under contract for 6 months.

Has there ever been a more disappointing young player than Freddy Adu? At 15 he was being praised by Pele, was sponsored by Nike and was considered the hottest youth prospect in the game, yet his CV just reads as a list of failures. I can't recall any young player in history receiving as much hype as Adu, not even a young Leo Messi when he was rising through Barcelona's ranks. Adu is 25 now and has accomplished nothing in his career - since his release by Benfica (where he was absolutely abysmal) his career has gone rapidly downhill, and getting released by a Serbian first division team after failing to play a single minute in 6 months is just another failure to add to the list.

I can't think of any youth prospect who has been as disappointing as Freddy Adu.

I feel quite sorry for Michael Johnson tbh. I remember he scored a wondergoal against Villa years ago and then disappeared - last I saw/heard of him he was at a gig somewhere, was several stone overweight and was begging people to leave him alone.
