Footballers moving to the MLS

Why is it that guys do this, when they still have so much to offer in the top leagues?

Beckham moved to LA Galaxy far too early, he still had a good few years left in him and showed that at PSG and Milan. Realistically, the time Beckham should've moved to LA Galaxy was about the time he actually left them - he could have easily stuck around in Europe for a few years and then gone to the US around 2012, not the other way around. I can't believe he joined LA Galaxy when he was like 32 - what a waste of his time and ability.

We've now got Thierry Henry wanting to return to Europe after leaving the New York Red Bulls, same with Jermain Defoe at Toronto. Frank Lampard has already returned to Europe despite signing for New York a while back, and will most likely sign for Man City full-time as soon as possible. Beckham was 36 when he returned to Europe, Henry is 37, Lampard is 36 and Defoe is 32.

Why are guys wasting their time in the MLS so early on in their careers? They should be moving to the MLS aged 36 and 37, not moving from the MLS at this age. It baffles me why guys are wasting their time there in their early 30's, and then eyeing a late return to Europe when they've deteriorated as players. You can answer "the money", but they could be making that same money later on in their careers. It doesn't make sense to me.

He signed for New York City FC a team that doesn't come into the MLS until the start of next MLS season, they're also a partner side for City which is why he joined them he won't be joining City full time.

He pretty clearly wants to join City, and City pretty clearly want to sign him full-time.

On top of this, City have shitloads of money. They'll get their man.

Fully agree on Beckham - but he moved to move forward Brand Beckham which he probably felt better to do so when he was in some 'peak' of his career. But showed by playing for Milan especially that he knew it was a mistake to go to LA Galaxy and play for England.

Defoe's move is funny. Gave all the spiel about moving to America when really he went for the fucking money, his pal Nelsen got sacked and how he's begging Harry to save him and take him to QPR.

Lampard, again, has made a mistake. Could easily have played in Italy or something, if I was City, I'd put my foot down and keep him for as long as. Who have City got in their squad who has experience of trying to retain their title? His experience is crucial for a squad that always struggles in the season after winning the league.

I don't know why Defoe went to Toronto. Same with Bradley.
