That's awesome. Really wish people would do this more. Still a lot of athletes donate a lot. But good on him really.

That's a really nice gesture, fair play to him. The article says he helped fund operations for 11 sick children before the tournament too. Nice to hear about footballers doing something positive for a change.

This story shows the perils of Twitter and social media.

It was at first reported that he donated the money to the children of Gaza which in light of the current bombings in Gaza, thought was a really cool gesture as not alot of sports stars would feel comfortable doing that. So Twitter has stories out then next minute, it turns out he'd donated it to Brazilian children. This was after I'd put it on Facebook that he'd donated to Gaza.

But still, awesome stuff from Ozil.
