The Transfer Window Thread.

Postby Enygma » Jun 25, '14, 9:47 am

Seeing as the Transfer Window is opening next week, I thought I'd make this thread to discuss all the rumours, all the done deals of the transfer window.

Some deals have already happened i.e Fabregas to Chelsea, Sagna to City, Rio Ferdinand to QPR, Joe Cole to Villa and now it looks like Ander Herrera is off to Man Utd for £28m. He has already reportedly had his medical and it could be announced tonight.

After seeing Paul Scholes retire, Pogba leave, finally it seems Manchester United are about to sign a central midfielder. :cheers

Sanchez or Shaqiri and I'd be a happy camper. No word on any quality defenders which we desperately need but plenty of time yet.

Someone tell Ed Woodward to calm down. What's he he playing at, getting two players in in quick succession lol.

Herrera deal was happening despite the snag earlier today, just sounded like political posturing from Bilbao but can't blame them, kinda admire them for the way they dig so deep to try and claw their home-grown players to stay.

For £28m, a 24-year-old Herrera is a good deal. He seems adroit in playing in two positions, but he does seem to have the understanding to play CM so it's not as if he's a predominantly AM who is being changed to a CM aka Nick Powell. It makes you think whether Herrera was the second option potentially if Fabregas said no (as it seems his Mrs wanted a London move) or LVG wasn't keen at all.

Shaw coming in is exciting. As said, the £30m investment will be worth it if he stays for, say, like Rio Ferdinand did for ten plus years and delivers regular consistent performances as he develops. Shaw's deal is an investment into a long-term future than a short-term signing plus it makes the renewal of Evra very wise as Shaw will learn from him and Evra's experience will allow the spotlight to come off Shaw in a way.

Adam Lallana reportedly off for a medical at Liverpool today after Southampton finally agreed to a 25 million deal. Meh, good player and all but the price is a bit much - particularly when there's better players out there for cheaper.

Saints will only get 18-19 million for him as the rest goes to Bournemouth as part of a sell on clause, which they agreed when Lallana was 12. They must be laughing :lol

I'm happy with the signing don't get me wrong. I like Lallana and it's great to see another Englishman brought in...I just had my head turned by tabloids linking us with Sanchez and Shaqiri!

Snodgrass passed his medical at Hull, so he's pretty much gone. Norwich confirmed the signing of Kyle Lafferty today too.

For what it's worth it probably means you'll get more money for Suarez.

In other news Craig Gordon has signed for Celtic. Apparently he's the replacement for Fraser Forster who is reportedly in line for a move to Atletico Madrid should Courtois stay at Chelsea. Be a great signing for Forster (and England), that.

Wow, go on Forster. I read Atletico had made a bid for a keeper in Spain but would be chuffed - as I like seeing British players having the bravery to leave comfy shores in the UK and go abroad - if he joins Atletico but think they'll go for someone else.

Gordon? Thought he'd retired - had a woeful injury record.
