Drogba at Chelsea? Adds experience but feels like a nostalgia signing more than anything else.

Saints are a fucking mess, and although their fans are a deluded bunch, I feel a bit sorry for them right now.

They had a friendly last night, and one of their youngsters, Callum Chambers, was ruled out with 'illness'. Turns out he's actually signing for Arsenal, in a move likely to be wrapped up over the coming days. Interestingly, Schneiderlin was also ruled out by 'illness' too, and there are rumours that he's being sold now too.

They've been lied to by the manager and the board. The board said they wouldn't sell any players until a manager was appointed, but commissioned the transfers of Lambert and Shaw. Koeman was appointed and Lallana was sold, and afterwards he said the club were done selling - yet Lovren is now in Liverpool for a medical, and Chambers is at Arsenal.

Unless Koeman pulls something miraculous over the next few weeks before the season starts, they're in a ton of trouble.

They're in no trouble at all, they've made nearly 100million in transfers all the players they sold are replaceable, none of them are world class so replacing them will be easy

Not true at all.

The season is three weeks away, they need two CBs, a LB, two CMs (probably even three if Schneiderlin leaves), a winger and two strikers. Pretty much a new squad. Their new signings may not gel, their new players may flop (I'm not convinced by Pelle after watching him last night) or may get injured. The odds on them getting relegated are being slashed day by day.

They may have made a lot of profit in this window, but that's all it is at this point - profit. Pressures on Koeman to make some top signings, and plenty of them - otherwise it's a long, tough season ahead for them. Their fans are already fearing the worst.

Hardly. Whilst not world class the players they've let go are all top draw and more importantly made up the spine of the Saints squad in addition to all being international footballers - imagine the morale in that dressing room knowing pretty much all of the better players (and the manager) have moved on to greener pastures.

Having money is fine and does provide them with a means of replacing the talent that's gone but do you really think they're going to be able to bring in established quality players? If I'm a player being courted by Southampton surely I'm thinking 'hang on a minute, this team has had a complete overhaul and is in far, far worse shape than it was last season'. I enjoyed Saints last season and felt like they were one of the better footballing teams who tried to do things the right way on the pitch but the reason for that (Shaw, Lambert, Lallana etc) has all but gone and the identity of the club has shifted to...something we don't know yet.

Unless Koeman has a keen eye for talent and has clout abroad to help him bring in players if I were a Saints fan I'd be pretty worried right now, particularly if Schneiderlin goes.

The ever reliable source of "some guy on reddit" reports that the Chambers deal involved Arsenal loaning Jenkinson and Gnabry to Saints this season. It's a temporary fix but if it's definitely one they've needed if it's true.

Arsenal can't send Jenkinson out of loan. They need a back up right back. Sagna was replaced with Debuchy but we still need a second one.

EDIT: Upon further investigating, I have discovered that Calum Chambers is a right back. Makes much more sense now.

Remy deal falls through because Remy has a heart problem and Liverpool, everything was apparently agreed but Liverpool wanted to wait until they got the opinion of a heart specialist who said it was a risk so they pulled out of the deal. I expect a bid for Reus any day

^Heart problem? That would need more looking at by QPR if he stays there. Typical wheeler dealer Harry, trying to flog Remy for £8.5m with a dodgy ticker lol.

Must be gutting for him, apparently he was all set for the number seven jersey. Might mean Origi stays rather than go on loan to Lille and Borini is injured after deciding to stay. Rodgers has to be decisive with this change of deals.

Lovren signs for £20million, good player big step up for him needs to prove his price tag now, this is one of them deals where he could be a steal at that price or a complete flop

Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are reportedly on the verge of signing for Spurs.

Saints are getting absolutely destroyed.

Update: Ralph Krueger, the Saints chairman, publically stated that neither Rodriguez or Schneiderlin were leaving this afternoon.

Less than an hour later, this: https://twitter.com/SchneiderlinMo4/sta ... 3155606528

Oh dear oh dear.

At the surprise of nobody, Schneiderlin has submitted a transfer request. LOLOLOL

Porky's wet dream is coming true, the complete and utter rape of Southampton.

The Southampton local paper is reporting that he didn't hand in a request, now.

It's funny - when this same paper said that Lallana and Lovren wanted to leave, I spoke about it on Twitter and was responded to by a bunch of Saints fans like "If you lived in Southampton, you'd know how much of a joke that paper is" amongst other tweets absolutely trashing its credibility.

Now, the paper reports positive news, and all of a sudden whatever this paper says is gospel. People are believing it instead of Sky Sports News. Several Saints fans on Twitter are even tweeting SSN telling them to remove their "factually inaccurate reports" from their website.

The #Saintsfc hashtag is a fucking circus, honestly.

But Everton have no money! Moyes and Martinez had to work on shoestring budgets! Kenwright doesn't fund his managers!
