Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid to join Juventus

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Jul 10, '18, 10:36 am

I honestly thought by this time in the summer, having teased leaving to re-join Manchester United or another club, he would be at a press conference confirming his new deal having got a pay-rise.

But it seems his relationship with the club president had finally broken down, and he wasn't going to get the money he wanted which Juventus would pay. It's a smart move, with Italian football renowned for helping players extend their careers, and I'm intrigued how he will do in Serie A. Juventus could do with letting a player go to recoup their money (Higuain, or Sandro) as they've forked out close to 88m for a player in his early thirties.

For Real Madrid, they won't get Neymar or Mbappe (in hindsight, they made an error not pursuing Mbappe last summer more vigorously) or Hazard (out of the three, he looks more likely the new signing to replace CR7) but they've lost a phenomenal player for them who was the leading talisman for their side. But it's a chance for them to build a more harmonious playing style that doesn't rely on Ronaldo and Bale is more likelier to stay.

33 in Italy is 28 in other leagues. I have no doubt that Ronaldo will continue his insane form and add Italy to the list of nations he's conquered.

Well, he's won the league in Italy which is another record but no CL as disappointingly for him and Juventus, they were soundly beaten by Ajax.

Also, his move to Juventus has coincided with the alarming rape allegation that CR7 paid the accuser to keep quiet after it happened in 2009 (the summer in which he left United for Real) this has led to various criminal and civil activity that he's avoiding to the extent Juventus changed their pre-season plans to avoid going to the States where they feared Ronaldo would be given a legal affadavit by the accuser's lawyers. If this goes to where it could, he's ruined.
