Apparently Tim Sherwood punched Roberto Soldado. Soldado tried to punch back....but he missed.

Soldado/Rose have denied a punch-up but imagine there were raised voices in that dressing room. Full lol at Daniel Levy - couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke and yet he was thinking he was such a cool cock for getting the money for Bale and spending it so 'wisely'. TBH, I felt Spurs would challenging for the title but it's what happens when you let a sporting director buy players.

Well, so much for that hammering Bayern were going to give us!

As long as that hammering didn't occur, I'm happy. Bayern, for all their "tippy-tappy" as Paul Scholes would say, didn't really test De Gea besides Robben's first half effort and a few other half-scares. We defended resolutely. Both full backs played well vs. Robben/Ribery. But we defended well as a team.

Vidic's header was immense considering he was having to go back to reach it but a shame no-one (especially Fellaini) didn't see the run of Schweinsteiger. Bayern still favourites but with Schweinsteiger suspended and Martinez, who knows but see Bayern edging us out next week.

You still gotta play them at their place, don't get too big headed.

Yeah but everyone was suggesting that we were going to get spanked. Robben vs. Buttner was a formality of an ass-kicking by the former but tbf, I think it was a simple enough game-plan to construct but uplifting that our poor midfield and inexperienced full-backs were able to hold off Bayern's might. I'd imagine it'll be the same next week but with maybe Rafael/Evra but tbh, I'd be tempted to keep the same back four.

Second week in a row that Rooneys produced a shocking dive and if this was a foreign player it would be all over the backpages...

^ I thought that was an awful dive as well. He went down like he'd been axed in the back.

Some English players are awful divers, Ashley Young in particular. Steven Gerrard's done his fair few as well, which go under-reported.

United would have preferred a 0-0 tie than a 1-1 tie. Will be tough for them to win now.

I think the fact that Bayern consistently tried to pass it into the goal today kinda helped us last night. If they had tried to cross the ball more regularly, it may have been different.

Still it was a good defensive performance by Utd, I think the fact that we played our full backs more so on the inside benefited us against the way Bayern played. Vidic's header was superb, despite the fact that no one was marking him. I felt Fellaini was yet again United's worst player on the pitch, he gave the ball away numerous times and never really created anything productive. Welbeck did well holding up the ball also but his miss was absolutely woeful, he should have either slotted in one of the corners or even tried circling the keeper ahead of what he did. His decision making is pretty useless at the best of times.

Still, I expected much worse than this. I still don't think we will outscore Bayern at the Allianz but I still think we will score as well.

I agree with this as well. It always annoys me that Liverpool fans never considered Gerrard a diver. Though Rooney's last night was pretty shocking. And Valencia should have been sent off as well!

Ashley Young is a disgrace with his diving.

HUGE NEWS

World football's governing body has taken action against the Primera Division champions and the Spanish FA for breaches relating to international transfers of minors

Barcelona have been banned by Fifa from signing players for the next two transfer periods for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

The sanction follows investigations initially conducted by Fifa Transfer Matching System (Fifa TMS) over the course of last year and subsequently by the Fifa Disciplinary Committee as part of disciplinary proceedings.

Barcelona were found to have violated several provisions concerning the international transfer and first registration of non-Spanish minors with the club, as well as other relevant regulations with regard to the registration and participation of certain players in national competitions.

The investigations concerned several minor players who were registered and participated in competitions with the club over various periods between 2009 and 2013.

According to article 19 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, international transfers of players are only permitted if the player is over the age of 18, with the exception of three limited circumstances and such exceptions may only be granted after evaluation by the sub-committee of the Players’ Status Committee.

With regard to the case in question, Barcelona have been found to be in breach of art. 19 of the Regulations in the case of 10 minor players and to have committed several other concurrent infringements in the context of other players.

The Disciplinary Committee regarded the infringements as serious and decided to sanction the club with a transfer ban at both national and international level for two complete and consecutive transfer periods, together with a fine of CHF 450,000 (€369,000).

Additionally, the club was granted a period of 90 days in which to regularise the situation of all minor players concerned.

Meanwhile, the Fifa Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol (RFEF) for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

The Disciplinary Committee determined that the association had also violated art. 19 of the Regulations and other provisions in the context of the transfer and first registration of certain minor players.

In this respect, the RFEF was sanctioned with a fine of CHF 500,000 (€410,000) and granted a period of one year in which to regularise their regulatory framework and existing system concerning the international transfer of minors in football.

In addition, the RFEF and the club were issued with a reprimand in accordance with art. 14 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code.

I'm not sure what happens with the Ter Stegen deal I think because its already completed it wouldn't be affected but this would be huge considering Valdes is going in the summer and there isn't a strong back up or strong up coming in the B team and they were planning on spending this summer aswell... they will appeal the ban and have 90 days to do so

Nice to see Barcelona living up to its "More than a Club" philosophy....

Their image has taken a battering since Sandro Rosell took charge, not just this transfer embargo but Neymar's transfer uncovering corruption; Messi being in court over tax avoidance; their mis-handling of Abidal's exit. Guardiola couldn't have left at a better time.

Madrid coasting to a win over Dortmund and PSG 2-1 over Chelsea but seems Zlatan has pulled his hammy.

^Oh dear, bad news for Porky.

TBF, I think other clubs in the PL made a mistake not going for him in the summer namely Chelsea and Tottenham. Latter could have spent the money on Soldado (£30m) and gone for Benteke and he was ready to go.

Gutting for Belgium, assume he would have started for them.

Shame it didn't happen a few weeks ago from a Norwich perspective. On the other hand, sucks for him as a person lol.

A somewhat interesting albeit completely pointless and unnecessary article on why Daniel Sturridge is the only hipster in English football. I enjoyed them poking fun at Joey Barton's superiority complex now that he listens to The Smiths and quotes Nietzche on Twitter.
