The summer saviour has arrived! Thank you WC to fill the gap before the season starts again.

Brazil to win 2-0.

Also, didn't David Luiz have a haircut and shave his hair off few days ago? He's got a full head of hair.

Good first half. Brazil ominous looking going forward so expect them to win the game in second half.

Decent game to kick things off. 4 goals, including one own goal and a penalty. No complaints.

It was a highly entertaining first game but the referee made a couple of atrocious decisions. Fred diving was the best thing he done all game.

After watching Brazil here, my expectations for them have dropped magnificently. Although they undoubtedly have some great individual players (Oscar in particular had a terrific individual performance today and Neymar is capable of creating something out of nothing), I still don't know if they will play consistently well as a team. Their defence also seems like one that could potentially concede multiple goals against some of the more attacking teams in the competition. They will top the group but they may struggle against Chile or Spain in the last 16.

Croatia were unlucky. Although they didn't have a great amount of chances, the penalty decision shouldn't have gone against them. And Julio Cesar got a soft free kick decision at a time Croatia most certainly would have scored. 3-1 didn't reflect their performance, and Modric and Rakitic were very impressive.

Overall it was a good game and I cannot put into words how glad I am that the world cup has officialy started :-D

Yep, I agree completely...

- Oscar was best on ground, especially in the first half when he was drawing and beating two defenders, good to see him get a goal, well deserved
- Terrible penalty decision, hopefully refereeing like this isn't a theme for this World Cup
- Croatia deserved a draw, they should go through this group in second

Really?

We must not have seen the same match.

Croatia were robbed and Brazil was shameful. Not a penalty, Croatia's second goal was disallowed?! The referee swung their way every time.

Not sure what game you watched. I agree the penalty that put Brazil in-front was a load of shit and I agree again that the referee was a bottle-job who was in favor of the home team but over the course of the 90 minutes Brazil (whilst nowhere near as impressive as the world assumed) were the better team and probably deserved it in the end. Croatia only really began to trouble Cesar in the last 15-10 minutes.

You've got to see where he is coming from though. Sure, Brazil had more possession and a couple of good individual performances. But the maths show that Croatia probably did at least deserve a draw in the game. Brazil's penalty should not have been a penalty (albeit the Croatia goalkeeper should have saved it at the same time). That would have made it 2-1 on the night, Then Brazil were awarded an extremely soft free kick at a time Croatia would have ended up scoring. That makes it 2-2. So I can understand the theory that people believe Brazil were lucky to get the win and Croatia were unlucky not to get something from the game. Meanwhile, maybe other than a Luiz header from what I remember I don't think Brazil had any clear cut chances that made them deserve to win the game. And not to discredit Croatia either, they made it hard for Brazil in the midfield, defended quite well and caused a couple of problems going forward. I think a draw would have been a fair result!

Neymar is the YouTube GOAT but whenever I've seen him play, he's been poor.

Great to see that the poor refereeing decisions have continued. Dos Santos's two goals definately should have stood. Still its been a decent game so far!
