Ronaldo must win the Ballon d'Or, right?

Postby PorkChop » Dec 01, '14, 11:19 am

He deserves it over Leo Messi after having a superior year, and I can't see them giving it to a goalkeeper. I expect Ronaldo to make it back-to-back wins.

Anyone feel differently?

Personally I'd love to see Neuer win it, it would be huge for football IMO, he's been the best goalkeeper in the world and no one is even close to him.

On what grounds can you stake a claim for Neuer ahead of Ronaldo though? Serious question.

Neuer may be the best goalkeeper, but you can't really look past Ronaldo at this point. It'll be a farce if Ronaldo doesn't get it - what more could he possibly do?

I never said he'd win it I just said i'd love it if he did being a goalkeeper it would be amazing to see a goalkeeper get recognition instead of two players who just scores goals....

I agree, it would be great but it just won't happen. There's a reason a goalkeeper hasn't won it since the days of Lev Yashin.

Neuer isn't even the best German player from the past year. Muller would be higher up on my shortlist tbh.

Yeah, Ronaldo to win >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Wouldn't surprise me if Ronaldo got shafted to give Neuer the hipsters' victory.

Neuer has been efficient and has brought in a new facet to goalkeeping but I'd argue Courtois has been the best goalkeeper in 2014.
