I'd support Man City all day, given the choice.
When I was a kid, everyone followed United because they were good. It was so fucking annoying. All their fans were (and still are, but to a lesser extent because they support Chelsea now) phony, glory-hunting, plastic fans. They don't truly support the team, they just associate themselves with them as they feel that United's success will give meaning to their dull-as-dishwater lives. They're the first to brag when United win, but on the rare occasion United lost, they didn't care. 99% of United fans are terrible.
I always liked Man City as a kid for this reason. I wanted them to upset the United fans and claim Manchester as their own. They had some good players too - Nicky Summerbee was one of the best crossers of the ball in the league, and Shaun GOATer was nodding them in from 6 yards. They had character and heart - they weren't a plastic team like their red counterparts, at least until Sheikh Mansour came along, flashing his cash.
I'd still support City given the choice, because of my deeply ingrained hatred of United and Alex Ferguson's smug, purple-nosed face chewing his Wrigleys in disgust after his team were only awarded 5 minutes of extra time for no reason when they were losing at 90 minutes. But the amount of people wearing Man City shirts that I see walking around town now appalls me - simply put, where were you when you were shit?
