This should be Arsene Wenger's last season in charge of Arsenal

They were woeful tonight, but that's not all of their problems.

Wenger has significantly weakened Arsenal's defence and the attack. The defence is by far the worst aspect of the team, and this is due to his poor decisions in the last transfer window. They're now scraping the barrel for defenders after only a handful of games... after Wenger let several go over the summer. With Debuchy injured, Arsenal are crying out for replacement - and the man that could meet that need is Carl Jenkinson, who finds himself on loan at West Ham. Up front, they have Danny Welbeck, Yaya Sanogo and Olivier Giroud - a far worse strikeforce than any of the clubs around them. Giroud is horribly inconsistent, Danny Welbeck averages 1 goal every 4 games (and that's with some of Europe's best players creating chances for him) and Sanogo averages 0 goals ever, unless they're in a preseason friendly.

Wenger even said himself that he wanted to sign Welbeck on loan... but instead of ensuring that happened, left on the final day of the transfer window to referee a charity match abroad, letting the board take over. He also had first refusal on Cesc Fabregas over the summer, and turned him down - which was a terrible, terrible decision. Fabregas could walk into Arsenal's team right now - but instead, he's busy winning the league with Chelsea.

Wenger never replaced Henry or Vieira, and the club have suffered for almost ten years because of this - with minimal success during that time for a club of their stature and transfer budgets. One trophy in what, eight years? Not good enough.

Wenger's time at Arsenal's helm should come to an end in May, and if I was the Arsenal board, I'd have my eyes on Jurgen Klopp - the manager of Arsenal's opponents tonight. Arsenal will never be a threat to the top teams under Wenger again, and the only way for Arsenal is down under his management. Klopp would be an excellent addition, should he wish to join. Arsenal need new life breathing into them, as under Wenger, they've become stagnant and have lost considerable ground on the other top teams.

What say you, @Viazon and @Enygma?

I'd be surprised if Klopp would want to leave Dortmund.

It depends on what you want in a manager. If you want a manger who will make your club a lot of money and qualify for champions league but wont win any trophies, then he is your man. If you want to win trophies, then perhaps we need someone else.

Personally, I would like to win more trophies. Arsenal owe Wenger a hell of a lot and he has done some wonders for the club. But perhaps it is time to give someone else a go. I am really surprised he has lasted this long. 9 years without a trophy? It just goes to show how much the Arsenal board expect from a manager. If that was Man City or Chelsea, a manager would be lucky to last half a year.

We were especially poor last night. Wenger called them average but I think that is being very generous. I remember when teams used to fear Arsenal. Nobody fears them any more. Especially the bigger teams. I feel like every time a top four teams comes up against Arsenal, they know they are going to win. Clearly, what Arsene is doing isn't working anymore. Especially when it comes to wingers. He keeps playing Ozil out of position on the left. He did that a few times with Wilshere and Cazorla last season as well. He takes all of these attacking midfielders who like the play down the middle and puts them out wide. How hard can it actually be to buy a natural winger?

Anyway, as I said, I am thankful for everything he has done but I would be excited at the prospect of seeing a new manager take charge.

I'm surprised he stayed on end of last season, despite winning the FA Cup and getting fourth again.

Worrying thing about Arsenal these last 8 years, as Viazon has rightly said, is that the fear factor has gone. Wenger's 1998, 2004 teams were fearsome. Had everything as a team.

But his idea to go for smaller, skilfull players has backfired and they've lacked a DM and a solid defence and more importantly, leaders. They got rid of senior players like Henry, Pires, Ljungberg, Campbell abit too quickly. United benefited - although towards the end, it became a problem - from having Neville, Scholes and Giggs hanging around to mould the younger players.

If they don't get fourth, he will definitely go but will the board really have the balls to sack him? No. But will stubborn Wenger want to leave having lost his holy grail of not qualifying for the CL?

Feel for Ozil. Not his fault Wenger panic buyed him instead of spending the £42.4m on Higuain.

Klopp could be the man for any club tbh. He's very unique IMO in terms of his man-management. If I was a footballer, would love to work for him.

But he's very loyal to Dortmund, can't see him breaking his contract to them. Apparently, he's very content in taking an underdog to newer heights.
