I said USA would beat Ghana and they did... now a point vs Portugal and a helping hand in the final game from Germany who after they beat Ghana rest their starting 11 and draw with the USA to go.

USA BABY LETS GOOOOOOOO :tim

Watched this game at a friends house in a room full of people. First big soccer watching experience for me. It was friggin awesome! I really hope they can get out of the group. Hoping for at least a tie against Portugal, so even if Germany beats us it wont hurt us.

Well, they didn't really. Ghana had a lot of the possession and tied it up late.

Spain are out.

Sorry but fully deserved. Not shown anything near their best and Chile played well and deserved all three points.

We all knew Spain wouldn't win in South America but the team lacked pace and balance. Costa struggled due to lack of fitness, Casillas' lack of game-time during the season showed and a general lethargy. Sad.

But they've got a youthful bench so it's a case of giving likes of De Gea, Koke, Thiago (injured for this WC) a chance and blend with seniors and they'll be back for the Euros I feel.

So does Spain still play the Aussies on Saturday now? Are they out out, or can they still play spoiler?

The Aussies are also out so it's just a matter of pride . Netherlands vs Chile for first in the group should be great.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm taking some confidence into this game after our first two performances ;)

4-0 over Cameroon, good performance from Croatia although I felt it could have been at least 6-0 if Perisic would just shoot the damn ball on the breakaways he had after his first goal.

Elbow to the upper back of Mandzukic from Song, straight red, right in front of the ref. Shameful to do that at a world stage. People saying Mandzukic flopped obviously haven't taken an elbow shot between the shoulder blades from a guy the size of Song. :jerk Weak contact or not, when you get in the sweet spot, you're going to feel pain. Especially from a dude that big.

Sets up a big match against Mexico on Monday. Hopefully Croatia can finish the job.

You've probably jinxed it now. :nono

Still, we're on track to my best prediction for this group. Score 3 goals and concede less than 10. Hopefully Spain don't blood all their younger players and put us to the sword.

Mark Lawrenson is an utter prick. He's spent 95% of his time making redundant points, calling a foul a dive and then continuing to make sarcastic remarks even when video replays show him to be wrong, or insulting other countries cultures and national pride. Maybe if the England players showed the same amount of spirit as Chile did during their national anthem against Spain, we wouldn't all be so bloody pessimistic every time they play. If you can't appreciate or understand passion Mark Lawrenson, maybe you should fuck off and find another profession so I don't have to listen to your idiocy.

:clap

A grade A boring prick. IDK what happens to him when he goes on commentary, just thinks he's being "funny" when he's coming across a knob. Just happens so that came across this today, an example of his "commentary".

Thought England were going to snatch a winner after Rooney's tap in, but Gerrard with that flick right to Suarez. Yikes. Suarez is a world class finisher, Uruguay are so much more of a threat with him in there. Carried the squad no doubt.

Remarkable when you consider Suarez is only about 75% fit. Brilliant player.

:lol Confidence yes, but I can't help but think we'll come out on Tuesday and face a Spanish firing squad full of rage

I'm so proud about our effort, I expected nothing when we got the draw but we've played a competitive and exciting brand of football where we have been the better team on the pitch for at least half the match.
