Why is Donald Trump so popular?

Postby PorkChop » Aug 10, '15, 4:27 pm

Alright, so I know barely anything about Trump's campaign other than he keeps saying stupid stuff yet somehow he remains ahead in the polls.

Why do people like him? What policies does he actually have? Does anyone here actually think he has a chance at presidency?

I would say the main reason is because he isn't politically correct and he says what he wants to without pandering to anyone. He is still in first place in the polls after the first debate, so I would say he does have a legitimate shot.

Fox News is firmly behind Jeb Bush and they're doing everything they can to paint Trump as an idiot that doesn't know what he's doing (which some already assume anyway), the billionaire Koch Brothers are probably going to support Scott Walker, Ted Cruz has gained some popularity in the polls, so it will be a tough road for Trump as it gets closer to next year.

Yeah that's basically it.

Although the fact that he remains so popular and actually has a legitimate shot says volumes about American voters.

The man knows how to run a business, combine that with the lack of faith in politicians america seems to have and you got yourself a new president.

America needs someone that cares more about fixing our own problems than helping others with theirs. Politicians care about making other politicians happy and scratching certain backs to one day get scratched in return. Trump does not seem to care about that and is looking at the country as a failed business that needs saving. People like that, they want the white night to save the kingdom

Because he makes the over sensitive, ban everything they don't like Left look like man children, and he makes the bought out big money GOP right look like frauds supported by FOX. There's two anti establishment candidates running this election, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. Americans hate socialism, so those alienated by Bernie's ideas find solace in Donald Trump.

Amazed Rupert Murdoch isn't backing Trump - latter's just the sort of controversial rent-a-gob that Murdoch would love for ratings views on his channels/newspapers.

A big part of Trump's popularity is that he's so different from the other candidates. He's the non-politician. He's the crazy dude. He's the guy who's in the media all the time. There are several candidates for the serious voters to go for, but the serious vote is therefore being split several ways. But all of the voters who are want to vote for a non-politician, a celebrity or a nutty person are going for Trump.

For that specific kind of voter, he has no competition. So while his opponents split the rest of the vote, he receives 100% of the crazy vote. I'm being a little simplistic here, but you get my general point.

So while he might look popular now, narrow that field down to just two or three candidates and he might start looking substantially less popular. He might have more followers than Bush now, but if you get rid of all the other candidates, I'd be surprised if Bush didn't overtake him.

Donald Trump doesn't want to be president.

He's said it countless times in interviews over the past 30 or so years. He's been hired by some big business CEOs to provide a distraction against Bernie Sanders. All of the media attention that Trump gets is a distraction. Turn off the news, do some research and realize that Bernie is the man to bring good change to help the middle class and stop supporting the 1% elite. Upper class white media will do everything that they can to stop Bernie by ignoring his progress and focusing on a racist, sexist conservative joke version of a revolutionary, which is Trump.

People need to stop fucking talking about Trump.

The good thing about our generation is that we aren't as easily fooled by propaganda as our parents generation were. That's why these rich, conservative fuckers are getting sneakier and sneakier. It's much harder to get away with shit compared to the time when JFK and MLK were murdered in cold blood. The way to resolve and defeat these people is to see through their lies and influence. Sanders is the only major politician who is on our side.

Here is one photo and one video. There are countless others. Do your research and vote for the only human in the race.

I'll be voting for Bernie Sanders in the primary, but I have no illusions that he has any chance at all of winning the nomination. America will never elect a president that will turn 75 before the general election. Hell, we've never elected a president who was 70 when he was sworn in. the odds of his health holding up to the strains of being president just aren't in his favor.

I can't say I know much about Trump other than that he's a twat. Last time he was in the news round these parts it was because he threw a tantrum about wind farms ruining the view from his golf course.

I don't know why this triggers me but the media isn't really run by a bunch of John Smith's, it's owned by rich Jews.

I know Judaism isn't a race, but you know what I mean. It's not a bunch of rich white Christian males running the media. I agree that he's anti elite %1, he's trying to strengthen the poor, but it's not really the middle class he's targeting. He seems to target the low class, low income families, those who make less than 30k a year. I like Trump because I don't agree with socialist economics at all - but I do know that he's a Clinton plant. Trump will tear the GOP apart, leaving no viable candidate, the Clinton dynasty goes for the pin. 1-2-3.

Winner & New POTUS: Hillary Clinton

Unless she gets arrested for her crimes but let's be real here. :lol

I actually think it's somewhat indicative of the underlying sense of cynicism plaguing American politics. It plays at a very inconspicuous level, but his popularity denotes something to do with the 'discourse' of politicians and all the negative connotations they carry. It's very interesting.

He's popular because there's over a fucking YEAR of this shit left and every candidate is too villainous, and/or too crybaby, and/or too same run-of-the-mill politician, and/or too old..

South Park nailed it over a decade ago. Douchebag VS Turd Sandwich over and over and over and over and over.

Trump's just supplying a little entertainment before the "real thing" gets going in Q4 2016 when we're basically voting for the one who will make us feel prettiest while they FUCK US.
