It is a bit crazy, alright. How do people say these things and not realise what they sound like?

The last one (the Human Rights Act) was on the front page of the Irish Times today. Apparently if they repeal it, or change it in certain ways, that could violate the Good Friday Agreement.

Apparently abiding by the law isn't enough anymore? What is this goon on about? He talks about enforcing British values on people but who's to say what those are? And there's stuff in there about needing police approval for social media posts as well. This is bonkers.

This is a truly exemplifying and salient example of how freedom of speech is becoming victim to increasing institutional coercion and oppression. Sure, this may seem ostensibly 'harmless' now, but the implications are perturbing and clear. Britain, Australia, and the United States have a truly anti-dissident political culture. There really is no room for dissension in mainstream discourse, and this notion is just being reinforced more and more by elitist scum like Cameron. I truly value the freedoms and liberties we have in the Western world, but there's no denying an existing totalitarian culture in our democracies. It's certainly not as coercive nor as conspicuous as a some third-world dictatorship, but we do live in a world of patent constraint and ostracism when the status-quo is challenged.
