When is someone going to do something about North Korea?

I've heard plenty of news over the last year or two about how terrible North Korea is and the human rights violations that happen over there. Why isn't anything being done about it?

Because China doesn't want anything to happen and unfortunately for the North Korean populace, they aren't important enough to risk making China mad. It's a buffer state between China and a heavy American presence currently in South Korea. China also doesn't want to deal with millions of North Korean refugees trying to cross the border into China. So basically nothing will happen until North Korea attacks a Western ally(South Korea or Japan) which would justify an invasion that even China can't deny. But I believe China knows what's going on in the North Korean government and if they get real out of line they'll replace them with a puppet controlled by China instead of risking the USA and its allies sitting right beside it.

Whilst it's unfortunate for the people of North Korea, it's better to keep it contained. Who knows what would happen if America or a Western country were to prod the bear?

Nothing to do with us what people do in their own countries, starting a war in North Korea will likely cause more misery for the people. Ask the Afghans or Iraqis if life is better now after Western intervention.
