US votes against UN resolution condemning the death penalty for gay sex

13 countries in total voted against the resolution, which condemned the death penalty for gay sex:

- Botswana
- Burundi
- Egypt
- Ethiopia
- Bangladesh
- China
- India
- Iraq
- Japan
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- United States of America
- United Arab Emirates

The US said it condemns the application of the death penalty for homosexuality but still voted against the resolution as it "didn't reflect the position of states who continue to apply the death penalty lawfully, as the United States does".

Fortunately, it passed regardless with a majority of members voting in favour.

We're the most fucking backward country in the Western world, I swear. I'm embarrassed to be American quite often these days.

The country is becoming a parody of itself. It's amazing that these politicians can continue to put so much evil out into the world with a straight face, and get away with it.
