Awful awful tragedy. Those poor people have lost absolutely everything, including their lives in some cases. They are still searching the tower for bodies, think the death toll was at 17 last time I checked but they expect it to rise significantly.
This could and should have been prevented. Sick of hearing people claim it's not a political issue. Of course it is, it became a political issue the moment 300+ Conservative MP's (72 of which are landlords themselves), voted against an amendment to the housing bill put forward by Jeremy Corbyn, which would have seen safety measures put in place to stop something like this happening. Not to mention that they spent £10million on a refurb of this building only last year, apparently basic health and safety wasn't part of this budget.
This blog is quite interesting, seems like residents have had concerns for a while:

http://www.huckmagazine.com/perspectives/opinion-perspectives/greenfell-tower-fire-political-aron-bastani/Why weren't these people listened to? Why has it taken for something catastrophic to happen for those in power to take note? Someone somewhere has blood on their hands, these people have lost everything. It's so sad.
