Banks and department stores are warning of higher rates/possible relocation if Scotland leaves the UK.

The relocation issue was addressed in the video I posted above, it has no effect on services or taxing. If the department stores raise their prices people will shop elsewhere, they'll find themselves with less of a market share and they'll be out of pocket.

Basically people are talking about RBS "moving" like they'll need to change their bank or it'll affect taxes, when in reality it just means their registered address is being moved and fuck all else will change. The main problem with what I posted though is that Robinson said Salmond "didn't answer", then the video cuts to a rather direct answer to his question that the BBC elected to ignore.

IMO, and after chatting to my work colleagues today, if Scotland says Yes then the free things they've delivered on over the years (free tuition fees, prescriptions) surely that won't last. They'll be charging for those and also, what about the currency? If we don't let them use the pound then what happens? I think we should let Scotland use the pound but maybe ask them to pay for it if they want to use it lol..

A lot of the people I spoke to at uni voted for the Tories in the last general election.

They had a really smart campaign. The Tories basically gave out the message that they were the only alternative to a Labour government (which is true, tbh) and so a fair amount of young people (particularly those who harbour racial prejudices) voted for them. I remember seeing facepalm-inducing statuses on Facebook like "Just voted Conservative... didn't know who else to vote for loool :S" and other statuses banging on about immigration, which seemed to be the main issue that the not-so-closet racists focused on. People didn't really care about the actual effects of immigration on our country - they just wanted to get rid of anyone who's even mildly tanned.

Fuck the Tory party.

The issue is that Westminster is refusing to discuss a currency union (or indeed any contingency plan in the event of a Yes outcome it seems). Basically that means we would be free to use the pound but we would have no access to the assets of the Bank of England. However, Salmond has said that if the rUK don't negotiate on this, he's not going to take on any of the UK's national debt.
