The Economy is Still Terrible for Young People

If you want to feel depressed for a while, go ahead and give that a read. It's clear that something needs to change. With so many people getting college degrees, the value of a degree is steadily dropping. Meanwhile, college prices go up at insanely high rates, so people are putting themselves into huge debt because they feel like they need a degree to get a job, even though jobs just aren't there.

If I ha a dollar for every time someone over the age of 40 complained about my generation, I'd have enough money to buy a house in the economy they ruined.

I agree. There needs to be profound, radical change within our existing economic systems. To put it bluntly, the tenets of neoliberalism espoused by most governments are simply not working. Neoliberalism, itself, is simply not working, unless you're in a position of great wealth. Unfortunately, we live in a world where anything that remotely resembles socialist or far-left policy is met with disapprobation, ostracism and censure. This could be the same type of policy that could ameliorate the problems facing the collective masses. However, just because it's positioned on the left of the ideological spectrum, it's denounced. Of course, we do have socialist policies, but they are still nonetheless operating under a neoliberal, capitalist framework. That, in itself, is a restriction.

This all sounds like BS to me. Everyone knows that if you don't have a job or are poor it's because you're lazy. And that goes double for non whites.

Just in case... :P

Out of interest, what are the fees for college?

Depends on where you go really. Private schools are absurdly expensive, I think to go to Northwestern it would have cost me ~50k per year. I probably paid ~15k per year to go where I went (University of Wisconsin), and in the 5 years since I graduated it's gotten significantly more expensive.
