Man takes hostages in a Sydney cafe

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Dec 15, '14, 7:30 am

Frightening stuff for all those involved - hope they call escape to safety. The media seem more obsessed with identifying what flag he's put on the window but have to say, an Aussie has set up a hashtag of #illridewithyou promoting anti-Islamophobia and tbh, it's incredibly refreshing and heart-warming.

Link to an article on the situation.

Damn man, this is a scary situation. Apparently this guy is known to the police, they haven't said what he wants though he has apparently contacted them with a list of demands.

Apparently, one of them tried to get the gun out of the nutter's hand and the other died protecting a pregnant woman.

Questions will be asked of what was known about this guy, and what information they had on him.

Shocking and terrifying for those involved (not to mention their loved ones). There are no other words for it really.

My brother lives in Sydney, so it was pretty scary to wake-up to this news the other day. Such an awful situation - the world is becoming more and more fucked up each day.
