Second person now being monitored for ebola in Dallas

Scary stuff. Shortly after the first person ever to be diagnosed with ebola in the US was announced, there's now a second person being monitored for the disease.

It's rather frightening that this is coming to America. Hopefully they can keep it contained.

I have not educated myself on this to much but if someone can answer a couple questions

1. Why the sudden outbreak? Ebola has been around for a long time and all of a sudden it decides now is the right time for world domination?

2. With the ample time we as humans have know about it why do we not have a immunization or tested drug regime for it?

He is being monitored because he came in contact with the individual who had been diagnosed with Ebola. It doesn't mean he has it and multiple people are being monitored, including the other students he came into contact with, not just this one.

No time to panic right now. There has been only one diagnosis and everyone else has been monitored for precautionary reasons, nobody having shown symptoms yet. There are several factors that contributed to the outbreak in West Africa, factors that wouldn't happen in the US. As of now, I wouldn't be worried.

Containment. Any virus that can be transferred through bodily fluids or anything of the ilk can result in an epidemic. It takes one person getting the virus, spreading it to a bunch of people around him, and then that bunch spreads it, and so on and so forth. Prior to that, it had been contained. Not any longer. Not to mention West Africa isn't exactly a golden standard when it comes to health care. It makes sense why it was able to spread as abruptly as it did.

2. With the ample time we as humans have know about it why do we not have a immunization or tested drug regime for it?

This doesn't really answer your question but a good amount of people in West Africa apparently refuse treatment.

1. It's not a sudden outbreak, it's been prevalent for years because Africa is a shithole with terrible health and medical standards. The people refuse to take precautions even when advised because they believe it's caused by the devil or some other magical fucking trick and refuse to stay away from the infected.

Then you add fuckwit hippies from western countries who go over there because they think they have the secret to solving three thousand years of war, genocide and sickness with a few verses of the bible and some fucking pez who contract it because ultimately they're even more stupid then the fucking idiots their trying to save. At least most of the African people realise the place is fucked and are trying to leave.

To top it off the US does the dumbest thing possible and brings them back home to cure them and the stupid ingrate cunts thank god for saving them and don't even mention science.

2. You pretty much do, after all you saved those other fools who got it and went back to the US to be cured. The problem is that even if you gave the cure to the people of Africa they probably wouldn't use it because as above, they don't know what the fuck it's all about anyhow.
