Something ate this shark... but what?

This is pretty interesting. What could eat a 9ft great white shark?

A big and confused whale? I dunno man.. That's scary as hell. I have a fear of the unknown depths of the ocean anyway, and this is all the more reason. We still have no freakin' clue what all is in our oceans.. :o

We actually know more about space than our own oceans. We've explored less than 5% of our oceans... how crazy is that?

I'd disagree with that seeing as how what we have explored of space is part of something so large we can't even quantify a percent that has been explored. :)

It's always an interesting question. If you an quantify how much you have explored something it says you know how much of it exists in the least. I study caves and we can't honestly say as a scientific community what percentage of caves have been explored since there are likely many that we have not found yet because they are not breached at the surface.

Most likely it was eaten but interesting. I mean, maybe the shark was injured and then only parts of it were consumed (the part that contained the tracking device). Doesn't have to be that big, really, if the shark was, let's say killed by a foreign fisherman who threw the crap of the shark into the ocean along with the tracking tag to keep from being caught and then...boom...yummy piece of electronics with some guts for a little guy who likes to stay deep in the ocean.

My money is on an Orca(Killer Whale). They are big enough and smart enough to eat pretty much everything in the ocean including Great Whites.
