David Cameron's aide on child internet policy has been arrested for child pornography

One of David Cameron's closest aides has resigned after being arrested on child pornography allegations.
Patrick Rock has been closely involved in drawing up Government policy on internet porn filters.

He quit after the Prime Minister learned he was at the centre of a police probe over images of child abuse.

Detectives from the National Crime Agency searched No 10 and examined IT systems and offices used by Mr Rock, deputy director of the Downing Street policy unit.

Mr Rock was a protege of Margaret Thatcher and has held a series of senior posts in the Conservative Party. He has been close to Mr Cameron for many years.

Described as the Prime Minister's 'policy fixer', the unmarried 62-year-old had been tipped as a leading contender for a Conservative peerage only weeks ago.

His arrest and resignation from Downing Street, where he has worked since 2011, will send shockwaves through the party's high command. The Prime Minister is said to be 'extremely shocked'.

A friend said: 'He has known Patrick for a long time and never expected anything like this.'

Mr Rock was arrested last month after officials at No 10 were made aware of a 'potential offence relating to child abuse imagery', Mr Cameron's spokesman told the Daily Mail.

One well-placed source said Mr Rock had also been the subject of a sexual harassment complaint from a civil servant working in Downing Street, which is understood to have been passed to Mr Cameron's chief of staff Ed Llewellyn.

'There were accusations against him that didn't turn into a formal process. That has upset some people at No 10,' the source said.

This whole thing has been a joke since it started. All it's been successful in doing is filtering and blocking charities, hotlines for child abuse victims and teens contemplating suicide. It also blocked a blog for a writer, because it mentioned the word "pussy" in reference to a picture of a fucking cat, and I believe I read it also blocked a cooking blog.

Now they want to get British pornographers to help them refine the filter ... Talk about asinine. you want to the people, who's content you're blocking access to, to help you do so. you're gonna put them out of business and ask them to help you do it? Are you fucking retarded David Cameron? It's like privatization all over again. Something this country never recovered from to begin with. We have no industry in this country, we import everything, an unemployment is so high because there's nowhere to bloody work. And now people can't even wank away with the misery. It's a joke.

The filter was implemented to prevent Child Pornography. It was never gonna achieve that, because Child Pornography isn't distributed through normal channels that can be monitored and blocked based on a few key words. I'd hazard a guess, those that do access it use VPN networks and a slew of other methods, negating the blocks in place regardless. Meaning the whole thing was destined to fail from the outset.

But yeah, not a clue who I'd vote for in 2015. I voted Lib Dem on the back of Nick Clegg and generally liked the party but at this rate, I'll be voting for the BNP! Owing to the lack of real options. Obama hasn't been an awful president. He just hasn't been a good one either. He's massively underdelivered (or not even delivered at all) on his campaign of hope and change, so he is a huge disappointment from that regard, but we'd be so fucked if Romney had won the election, especially when it comes to environmental policy. Definitely not a fan, but not really a hater either. He's just another politician.

I look over the parties now and I find I can't agree with any of them on anything. I'm an Economics student and can see Labour would be frigging devastating to us (at least according to what I have been taught), plus who in the blue hell wants Milliband anywhere near a position of power?
The Tories are just clueless as to the issues that face 99.9% of the population on a day to day basis.
