Why do these buffoons say such trite in public? Do they honestly think they'll get applauded or is it merely part of the mainstream media's obvious agenda to demonise Snowden at every opportunity possible? Well, it is certainly not working either way.

Then again, I understand (to a certain degree) some of the complaints against Snowden. Nobody knows the extent of knowledge Snowden has available, but some predict he has information that is of consequential importance. It is obviously crucial that Snowden does not distribute any documents that could potentially damage the security of the United States on an international level. I mean, I know the US government has been involved in some pretty sadistic stuff, but releasing documents that could jeopardise the safety of the American people is not the wisest thing to do. I know the American people (and, frankly, the world) are entitled to know exactly what the US government has been doing, but I think one of the most crucial facets of this whistleblower period is to distribute the documents wisely and accordingly, making sure the information does not cause a global shitstorm. There would be more suitable and just ways to allocate such documents, I'm sure. But knowing there is a bloke out there that has an ambiguous amount of highly secure documents that CIA and NSA can not get ahold of it, well, it makes me smile.

Just look at whom he's done an interviews with. Fox News - the "beacon" of extreme hyper-bole, exaggeration, bullshit, prejudice and that loony O'Reilly so the CIA guy is just pandering to his audience and the "news organisation" are pandering to him. What a lovely couple they make.

Snowden has not revealed anything from what I've seen to jeopardise the security of the US. The fact that I read yesterday that some recommendations are to be brought in to oversee the NSA's work (such as not keeping as much detail on people as they have) vindicates Snowden.

Sadly our government are using this situation with Snowden to criticise and clampdown on the Guardian newspaper (who published the information here) by stopping Greenwald's (the journalist who worked with Snowden) partner on dubious grounds and legislation and have acccused the paper of jeopardising the security - all that bullshit which ain't true - and forcing them to erase documents from their systems which they have other copies.

They talk about press freedoms yet they and some media commentators turn a blind eye to this.

Well, to be fair, I'd probably rather die by hanging than lethal injection. Maybe he just thinks it's more humane?

And MSNBC and CNN are any less crazy? Yes, because they're liberal and you're liberal too, so as long as you agree it's okay? Right...

By the way, the first tidbit was a joke. Just in case you needed clarification on that.

I wouldn't say CNN are perfect but don't watch their coverage enough to judge but from the brief outset, seem less crazy than Fox News which I assume isn't too hard to do.

I'll concede MSNBC as pretty biased but CNN has been pretty damn good over the last few years. Closest you are going to get to unbiased of the "big three" personally I prefer Al Jazeera, but also check CNN, BBC, the Huffington Post and Washington Journal's sutes. The thing isn't to only read unbiased sites/papers (that can never happen there will always be some bias, that's how humans work) the thing to do is read multiple reputable sources and sort out what the bias is as to what the story is.

I tend to read the BBC as my first news gathering source but for more honest opinions and thoughts on specific subjects (for example the phone-hacking issues and issues in the Middle East) I'd probably read The Guardian and the Independent respectively (Robert Fisk for the latter newspaper provides brutal, honest tellings of the Middle East - well worth reading his pieces)

Strange how you never see these stories out of China or the Middle East.

They mostly hang people until they're dead for these sorts of things, as opposed to just saying they should be.

^Not only the Middle East, China, everywhere. I'd be stunned if any nation wasn't doing some sort of listeing, spying, on allies or enemies. That 0.01% of doubt or paranoia still seems to seep into doing 'other' things for re-assurance.

Everyone spies on everyone, that is a given, but most of the countries and states that are of concern don't seem to proclaim the people who give out their national security measures as heroes.
