Am I the only one that really dislikes Earl Hebner?

How do you guys even care enough to dislike a ref. I honestly barely even notice them in WWE at this point. I couldn't even tell you any of them outside of Mike Chioda.

Yeah I care to little to even notice the refs.

The only ref I really hated was Scott Armstrong because he had this weird way of counting that always seemed too slow to me.

I don't mind Hebner. I agree that he tries to pull attention away from the wrestlers a little more than most referees and I don't really approve of that. I agree that the referee's job should usually be to be noticed as little as possible. So he is worse than a lot of other wrestling referees that are less known than him.

On the other hand though, it's not like he actively ruins the matches he's involved in, and occasionally his stuff can be fun. He plays up the heel referee act quite humorously on house shows. The last time I saw him in Dublin, he came out to 'Man in the Box' by Alice in Chains (instantly scoring points with me) and when the fans started chanting "You Screwed Bret", he took off his ref shirt to reveal a T-shirt with the words "You're damn right I did". One guy in the crowd got so pissed off that he jumped the rail and tried to attack Hebner - he had to be thrown out of the building by security.



As an aside, I just wanted to post the best referee moment ever:

Love that moment, always makes me laugh whenever I watch that match. The speed he's going, I half expect him to trip and go flying half way down the ramp. He really does run as fast as his little legs can carry him.

the only thing I hate about refs is that the lack of replay's, whenever a dq or a cheat happens the week acts like they don't have a a 40 foot high screen with instant replay available to correct the wrongdoing

Instant Replay would ruin professional wrestling. Nobody would wind up wanting that.

Yeah I remember Justin King lol He used to referee for one of the indy companies I do ring crew/Security for called WPPF he also has a Identical twin brother who wrestles under a mask

I hate Earl Hebner nowadays. He's often just in the way at this point, doesn't seem to keep up with things, and his near falls are so telegraphed because he throws himself forward onto his stomach as he's raising his hand for the 3rd count (Now I've said this, you will notice). It's fucking annoying.

I have noticed that for years. Definitely takes away from the unpredictability of a finish when he refs.

Also, if Charles Robinson had fallen or if he caught the top rope while trying to dive under it, that would have been beyond hilarious.
