Jim Cornette is great. His shoot interviews are gold and I expect this AMA to be no different.

"Describe Vince Russo in 10 words or less."

Cornette: "Asshole Dipshit Cocksucker Motherfucker Prick Crook Conman Blithering Idiot Christian"

:lol

He was also pretty brutally honest with his assessment of Colt Cabana.

Q: What was the deal with Colt Cabana? What did/do you not see in him?

A from Cornette: Colt is a fine mid-card wrestler, an average look and an oK at best promo, he was perfect for WWE and I have to assume he pissed someone off there--he was NOT a fit for ROH as we were trying to present an athletic, serious, credible style of pro wrestling and funny doesn't draw money. We didn't offer him a contract because he didn't fit those plans, and he has made a big deal out of it, we never said this publicly until he made it an issue-personally, I don't think his comedy is funny and I don't think anyone trying to make a career in pro wrestling should make fun of it at the same time, a la his bullshit "$5 wrestling" with the asshole who runs Highspots. I have no use for that type of horseshit--

Daaaaaamn haha.

I assume there will be some Kevin Steen, Colt Cabana and El Generico fans giving him shit for his treatment of those three in ROH.

EDIT...

And so I see it has begun.

I like Jim Cornette. He's a fucking hypocrite who talks out of both sides of his mouth, but damn if he's not fun to watch. But I think the diatribe shows how out of touch he is with today's product. There's a reason why Colt is beloved by ROH fans. It's because he's a damn good worker. And yes, he is funny, and yes that has a place in wrestling, especially in a company like ROH. PWG is the most notable and popular indy on the planet because it's highly entertaining, the work rate is insane, and because it's fucking funny. His diatribe about $5 wrestling also shows how fucking silly he is. How can he not see that Colt doing those things, is because of his love, because of his reverence for wrestling? the fact Colt has also segued that into doing live comedy shows, where he literally talks over wrestling matches/movies at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival no less ... completely proves his "funny don't draw money" line entirely false. Funny can draw money. Funny can be an important part of a wrestling card. Why the hell else would Santino still be employed by the WWE? How would CHIKARA still be in existence? Also, he says all this knowing full well at the time he was booking ROH with Delirious ... a fucking comedy wrestler.

There's one guy I don't understand why people still care so much about him. A guy who the wrestling business passed by about 15 years ago at least, who thinks he has all the cures for what ails pro wrestling. Yet he's washed out of every company he's ever been in, usually pretty quickly, and still thinks he's the smartest guy in wrestling.

Even RoH people hated his run, and that's the type of company where his ideals should have excelled.

I'd definitely agree with your assessment of him, but it's still always interesting to get some insights about the business from a guy who was so close to it for so long. Plus, I appreciate that he pulls no punches with his responses.

He's definitely a straight shooter (no pun intended :P). I think his outlandish personality probably has car crash appeal, it's hard to turn away.

Cornette has the most entertaining shoot interviews in wrestling, but I agree that he's not as brilliant as he thinks he is. The was a booker for WWF in one of its most boring periods. He hates Russo like he's the antichrist of mankind, and thinks Russo has never done anything even remotely positive for the wrestling business. On the Reddit AMA, when he was asked about the current state of WWE, he said he can't find anything positive about the product, and refused to acknowledge any of the young talent or the increasingly good match quality. When asked about ROH getting better after he left it, he made fun of the guy for not understanding "business", stating how ROH still has a small audience so nothing has gotten better. Brett said it best: he's washed out of WWE, TNA, ROH, his own company Smoky Mountain Wrestling, and OVW. So at the end of the day, the joke's on Cornette.

Not really a fan of his, I find him to be a rather gigantic douchebag to be honest.
