I've added a match of the night poll; I don't think we've had one of those before for PCW.

Re: PCW Genocide RESULTS!

Postby Stratusfied619 » Sep 15, '14, 2:16 am

Gryphon vs Zaid – IMO I think that Alex should have said a Lion vs Hyena cause Hyenas are sneaky and Zaid is like a hyena, cunning, clever, sneaky. Plus lions and hyenas have a true hatred for each other, but I digress. I liked the arrogance of Zaid in the beginning of the match of hitting some moves on Gryphon and getting away to avoid him and being sneaky and reading some mistakes that rookies do and make from Gryphon like lifting Zaid up as the ref is making the three count and arrogantly counting with the ref which I mostly associate those things as something that a heel character would do, but Gryphon is able to pull it off without coming off as a heel. Zaid’s sneakiness was able to let him pull out the win which is a good momentum for him, coming off of the Valentino feud.

The Paths of Destiny – Doctors and medical staff have it just as hard as Hypeman, no matter their opinion or trying to do their job, nobody on the roster is going to listen to them.

Hess vs Sears – Hess is a monster, he has done away with his opponents rather quickly. I think that’s more because his co-writers aren’t around. Hess shows his dominance and a scary individual he really is. So now Sears’ name goes on Amos’ cast.

Secret No More – Finally the secret and Sears is at most bisexual I suppose. Not necessarily a bad thing but I wonder how Hess found that out? I was expecting something more sinful like sex trafficking lol or that Onyx was part of the Amish community and was kicked out for her bizarre sexual ways. Now if Hess is moving on I would really like to see Hess feud with a main eventer for his next feud, because he has tons of momentum behind him and be a shame if Hess doesn’t consider himself a contender for the title by now. Hess has what it takes to move up to main event.

NPT – Quite frankly, I still don’t know what to think of NPT/Ace. I’m still a little lost but I guess for me I have to see NPT in a feud to show off this new character and what he’s really about, cause right now I’m just not connecting with NPT/Ace at the moment. So wondering who’s going to accept his open challenge.

A Man’s Man – Faux pas by Alex to call Gabriel, Gabrielle :lol , unless Orion told him to. I do love Orion though, he’s just a character you love to hate and enjoy watching. I can’t hate on the man, Bishop is becoming another one of my favorites.

Reece vs Bishop – I did love the leapfrog countered into a spinebuster from Bishop. Reece showed a valiant effort to stay in the match against Bishop but that earlier attack was just a little much so we really don’t know if Bishop at 25% is better than Reece at 100% because Bishop knocked that percentage down with the attack. So I see their feud might continue on as I don’t think Reece is going to like the way Bishop picked up the win.

Magnum vs Omega – These two didn’t hold back on this no holds barred contest. I liked the elbow chair drop from Omega. I did get a good laugh out of the referee begging Magnum to let him make count after Magnum threw Omega back over the barricade. Then the ref constantly pleading with Magnum to stop was funny too. Magnum is 100% asshole in a bad ass way. He’s not a love to hate character he’s just a character you flat out hate because of how nasty and ruthless he is. It’s going to be very hard to take that title away from Magnum under those rules as it might be hard for anyone on the roster to knock him out.

Silent Prairie – EMTs have to rush out again after helping Carter. Something tells me, might be seeing them again with the other matches that are scheduled on the card ;) , that haven’t taken place up to this point. I wonder if Gryphon will pick up where Omega left off?

Doom’s Day – A drunk Aaron Reed, wonder if he’ll be intoxicated during his matches? I’m not familiar with IOW or SOS, so I really have to take Aaron Reed in as a new character which is good since he wants to go by his name and not his former gimmick. I thought that Aaron Reed’s promos were him setting a doomsday clock for someone on the roster. He might be too intoxicated to attack anyone.

Man on a Mission – Hypeman just can’t seem to interview anyone over the past couple of weeks.

Logan vs Evans – I was wondering who was going to be the first to give an opposite or mixed reaction when it came to writing a match because the PPV is taking place in Canada. I liked that at the beginning of the match that both Evans and Logan were receiving a mixed reaction and then Evans cheers slowly dwindled down to where he was receiving more boos than cheers because he was becoming obsessed with putting an end to Logan, and liked that Alex pointed it out in commentary that Evans is turning into the very thing that he despises. This was the match I said that I was looking forward to and it delivered with the storytelling that Logan and Evans were able to tell and their hatred for each other burning through. Was wondering if Logan was going to pull off some mind games like he did with Gryphon but to my surprise he didn’t. Wondering when PCW goes back to the states will Evans get booed or cheered, same for Logan.

On a Roll & Match – Drake Bernard picks up another “win” if we can call it that against a no name. I wonder if this is the direction he’s going in until someone on the roster actually officially challenges him. If I’m remembering correctly he only has one credible win over Kyle when the rest have been count outs, I’m thinking.

The Last Walk – Only time will tell if Spencer is going to add Daz’s name to his list. I’m thinking that maybe the show is a little out of order since it says that NRC title defense was a little earlier and I did expect to read the tag team title match before the I Quit Match. Evelyn barely uttering two sentences, I’m hoping that she has a significant presence during the I Quit match, otherwise I’m give her the major side eye. :P

I Quit Match – I don’t think that the ref should reluctantly be asking if anyone gives up, unless he’s on the take or it just shows that he’s biased. A thing I like about Miller is that he’s so ready to end his opponent early on in the match as a way to not expel too much of his energy but I think he knows that he can’t get rid of his opponents that fast. What Daz has working for him in this feud is that it’s causing him to do heelish things like spit in Miller’s face, all while having to maintain his face status. Oh Evelyn is going to get my side eye :lol , she’s more of a liability to Daz more than anything. It’s coming across that she’s really not needed in this feud at all. If she’s going to show up and then immediately needs medical assistance and giving Daz no other alternative than to quit the match because she got involved and she came off as a martyr. I guess Miller got what he wanted in needing to hear Daz say I Quit. IMO since Daz was going to lose in this match I would have liked for him to quit in a different fashion. With the way it ended, I’m wondering if their feud will continue cause don’t think Daz is going to just sit there and let Miller get away with beating his woman. I wanted to take a break after reading this match but I was determined to get through this ppv in one reading.

Tag Team Championship – Maybe Melissa should have been added to the match to make it 3 on 2 since she so wants to get her on hands on one of the J-Team members. This match was a good refresher from all the devastation that all the other matches contained and that this feud doesn’t have a serious atmosphere like the rest of the feuds for Genocide. A couple of close calls in this match as I thought that the J-Team were going to become tag team champions as they had a really good showing in this match, even resorting to some underhanded tactics but NRC was able to maintain their gold and continue to dominate the tag team division.

The Wedding – HL and I bounced ideas off each other and hopefully you all liked the finished product. We thought that it would be best if Dylan was at the wedding the entire time instead of coming out to attack Valentino and make the attack as unnoticeable as possible, instead of a big spectacle. I also didn’t want it to be a full fledge on boo chants on Dylan for doing what he’s doing, just shocked as I slowly want to work him in as a heel since he’s been a fan favorite for quite a bit. Wedding before main event, works for me.

Jailbreak Ladder Match Got a good laugh at the fans chanting “f*ck him up”. The ladder into the shoulder is something I never seen before and ouch. With that arm being targeted I guess Kaiser knows how Dylan feels when he targeted his arm. Payback’s a bitch. Cavanah wanting to punish Foster a little more than winning the title is almost out of character for him slightly. Since he’s so obsessed with the title and goes batshit crazy whenever he loses a title. So I was thinking the first chance he got to immobilize Foster enough to win the title, he would take his chance and win the match, but it did prove to be his undoing. That fall onto the cage wall just looked sick and thought that it was over for Foster.

While reading this match I was expecting Devine to make an appearance, my expectations for him showing up was high but he didn’t so wondering if Devine being mentioned was just a way of Foster proving that he doesn’t need his former Mafia members at his side or if there will be a future match between Kaiser and Devine down the road. Kaiser may have exhausted all his title shots and may have to start from the ground up again, so be interesting to see where Kaiser goes from here and who Foster’s next opponent is going to be.

No wonder this event was called Genocide just mass extermination across the board. Just about everyone is in need of medical attention: from Hess attacking Knight, Zanettis taking out Carter, Omega getting knocked out, Alexa rammed into the ring post, Andrew’s knee, Evelyn needing medical assistance, Valentino knocked out, Nick needing assistance, everyone is just on a bloody warpath and I love it. Brutal PPV all around, half the roster may be coming to Onslaught on crutches and wheelchairs :lol . Genocide lived up to its name. Roxanne being the only woman to successfully take out a man without being injured or humiliated, woohoo!! :headbang

I read this match at 10p and read the whole card until 3:09a with no breaks. It was a great five hour + read though. Brutal but great PPV for PCW and I’m going to give MOTN to Logan vs Evan because of the mixed crowd reaction and them turning on Evans which was unexpected and awesome at the same time. I’m glad I chose that match as a match that I was looking forward to. The PPV was stacked, everyone did a great job at writing their matches/promos/segments minus Evans not getting his entrance. An honorable mention does go out to Hess for taking out two people in one night being Sears & Knight.

Tally: Leg Injuries (Daz, Andrew, Foster, & Carter), Head Injuries (Alexa & Omega) Arm Injury (Kaiser), Body (Evelyn & Sears), Knocked Unconscious (Valentino), Humiliated (Gia). Medical Staff is earning their paychecks. I was right, paramedics and EMTs in full swing at Genocide :lol .

Excellent Job everyone!!! :clap :tim

Re: PCW Genocide RESULTS!

Postby prophet » Sep 15, '14, 9:35 am

I know I've yet to comment on one or two other shows prior to the PPV but I've just read Genocide and as it's fresh in the memory I think I'd best get my thoughts up on this first.

Gryphon vs Zaid - I really enjoy the little details included to show off Zaid's personality so seeing him rip up a fan's side on his way to the ring was hilarious. One little word of advice I'd give to whomever wrote first was some of the dialogue read a little...clunkily. Rather than writing "Gryphon in the ring but Gryphon slips past him and beelines for Zaid. Zaid runs around" try to include nicknames or monikers to try and keep the dialogue reading fresh. For example you could write "Gryphon in the ring but the Frenchman slips past him and beelines for Zaid. 'The A Lister' runs around...". It isn't a big deal or anything and it's something I find myself struggling with at times but it's just a bit of advice should you want it!

Really enjoyed Zaid's use of underhand tactics to try and get an advantage and then breaking his own pin because he's such a cocky asshole, great stuff. The theme of the match worked really well with Zaid cheating whenever he can but getting out of harm's way whenever Gryphon attempted to build up some momentum and I think it worked really well. He kept Richard frustrated and stole a win, good stuff.

The Paths of Destiny - Glad to get to write another of these little segments between Foster and Daz - I think they've become somewhat of a staple of PPV's and it's going to be really cool to put all these segments together at the end of the year and look at how these two men have changed in that time.

Sears vs Hess - Has saucernips gone for good then? Bummer. This feud had so much potential and this match could've been a showstealer but I suspect it may wind up being another squash for Hess. Maybe not...Sears kicking out and getting the roll up...and there we go with the big win for Hess. I think it was a good call to have Sears kick out of the Field Plow, it made the character look tougher (as much as he could under the circumstances) before Amos got the eventual win. It seems like ShaneO has had to write solo for the entirety of PCW, hopefully he'll get to actually work with someone properly next cycle.

Secret No More - Good promo from Amos Hess as per, though it does feel hollow if saucernips isn't around to continue the feud. It was a shock to find out that Sears is gay and I really wish we could learn more about the character going forward because that is a story that I've never seen told in pro-wrestling/e-fedding and would've been really intriguing. Ah well.

NPT - Better promo from NPT/Ace. Looking forward to seeing the open challenge on the next Onslaught and learning more about the unstable character.

A Man's Man - 'Mecca of Manliness' - lmao. Hilarious promo from Orion, who shines brighter each week. #wordplay

Reece vs Bishop - I agree that the leapfrog/spinebuster counter was a really cool spot to open the action with and counter Reece's first wave of momentum before it could even get going. Really digging Reece's fast-paced, hard-hitting style and following the post match assault the fact he's getting so much offence in is a testament to the toughness of the character and would be really endearing to a crowd. Great line on commentary highlighting Reece's heart following his kick-out from the Galaxy Slam. Big victory in the end for Orion but I fully expect this one to continue.

Omega vs Magnum - I forgot we're in Edmonton for the show, thunderous pop for Omega from his hometown crowd wearing a local jersey. Lightning quick start to the match with the Buffalo dropkicking the title belt into Phillips' face - yet again reminding me that Omega isn't as large as I always picture him for some reason haha. Loved how commentary referenced that Omega wasn't just fighting for himself or the crowd but also for his fallen former colleagues from SoS who Phillips has annihilated in the past month, great little detail to further the story and remind us just why we're rooting so hard for the good guys.

Looks like we're about to get violent as Magnum goes after Omega's arm and the commentators inform us how clever it is to neutralize an opponent's limb to prevent him from being able to fight properly...hope we don't see anything like that later in the night... :D We have our first two count-outs of the match and Omega survives a 6 and an 8 count, good build-up there as we again reference Magnum's demolition of SoS legends which I dig because it adds continuity to the bout. LOVED the scoop slam onto the unfolded table, really innovative piece of offence that you don't see that often. Magnum pausing to get some more tobacco out was a great touch and I expect this one to be ending soon...

...or not! Beautiful counter spot with Omega avoiding the chair at the death before yelling out of name of his town - you can just imagine how fucking ape-shit the crowd would be going at this point but similarly you can just imagine how deflated they'd be watching Magnum reverse once more and send the Buffalo crashing and burning into that table. The ending was sickening, Lone Star Slam with the chair wrapped around Omega's throat...wow, brutal. Having the referee scrap the 10 count right away and end the match was a brilliant decision and made the finish much more powerful, sold expertly with the commentary as well. Great job on the match, guys - really enjoyed it.

Silent Prairie - I said the finale of the match was powerful, so was this segment. After the way the match ended with emotions high this needed to be more reserved and under-stated in order to really sell the severity of what just happened. How poignant that this happened in Omega's hometown, got to think that's it for the Buffalo. Who can stop Magnum now? Good segment.

Doom's Day - Really digging this segment so far. Doom starting off with the face pop welcoming a veteran back into the fold only to call it out as bollocks and instantly turn heel, good stuff. Not sure how I feel about the 'death' stuff but it certainly worked well to introduce his new moniker of Aaron Augustus Reed I guess. Didn't like that he was drunk and I'm not sure why he really needed to be but this segment definitely has me interested in what comes next and I suppose you can't ask for any more than that.

Man on a Mission - Jeeez the serious tone of the show continues. Can The Master please show up? I need some comic relief right about now :lol

Logan vs Evans - The split allegiances thing before the match could even get under way was interesting and the fact the commentary team was used to highlight it further may well be serving as a bit of foreshadowing, we shall see. The dynamic of this match is probably the most interesting of the night - we're not used to seeing Shane Evans in a state like this and with him going for the choke right off the bat, it's clear he just wants to fucking murder Logan as quick as he can and be done with it.

Logan seems to be playing a dangerous game in the early going, repeatedly getting the upperhand on Evans and seemingly rubbing it in with the crowd cheering him all the way. The way I see it that could be his gameplan, piss Evans off that much and push him so far over the edge that his emotions cloud his judgment and that's what gives him the win but on the other-hand if that backfires he's in big trouble. Lmao didn't have to wait long until we see Evans GOING OFF :P

The fast paced nature of this match really compliments the way the show in general has gone tonight and again we see the crowd referenced slightly as the fight spills over into their domain. Yep, there we are - for the first time in the night following a well written sequence we have the crowd more firmly in favor of Logan than Evans and I'm loving that this is the story being told right now. Great moment in the match when it looked like Evans was about to help Logan down only to instantly start pummeling him as he lay defenseless, I loved that spot and the story unraveling in-front of our eyes becomes ever so clearer.

The character of Shane Evans has instantly become one of my favorites right now, he seems a completely different person, dangerous and void of reason, the fact the crowd has well and truly turned on him and him being furious about it may well be enough to tip him over the edge. Logan on the other hand is slowly abolishing my prior opinion of him - for months now I've been saying that this nice guy routine is all an act and whilst it may take time, eventually he's going to reveal his true colors but for the first time...I honestly think he may well be a changed man - it took you longer to win me over but I think you've finally done it which is a testament to both the booking of the feud and the writing involved, so kudos for that.

Loved this match. I've probably not talked a great deal about the actual 'match' itself but who cares when the story being told is that good. I can definitely see why it may be considered match of the night for sure. So pumped to see where we go from here with both characters.

On A Roll - Finally! Some much needed comic relief! Really enjoyed this promo from Morrison and Bernard and he's right, technically he has beaten a bunch of former champions and again the longer he goes without 'real' competition the more foil the character has to work with, good stuff.

Bernard vs Tsuyoshi - Lmfao. Even Bernard's fictional opponents are...well...fictional :lol This was brilliant comic relief needed on this show so far, so good job.

The Last Walk - Great promo. You really get a sense that this is all or nothing for The British Rose. Let's go.

Daz vs Miller - Thunderous start to this one with them going at it before the match can even officially get under way, should set the tone for the duration of the contest. You've got to wonder if Daz is going to learn his lesson though, from the get-go I've assumed that Quinn was brought in to help him keep his emotions in check and help him out should anything cloud his judgment as it did at the last PPV but right from the off here he's gone after Miller and it hasn't taken long for his reckless nature to backfire on him as he crashes into the guardrails.

"Fuck me? Fuck you." badass line from Miller who has really come along during this feud, he seems to have well and truly mastered the art of mind-games and he's reaping the rewards yet again. Back to my point, Daz spitting in Miller's face - he's still showing signs that Miller is in his head and he needs to be careful, we've never seen Daz look as vulnerable as he has throughout this feud and that trend seems to be continuing right now.

In contrast though, I'm really loving seeing glimpses into the old British Rose when the referee continues to ask him if he wants to give up. Miller has seemed much more in control so far in the match even when he isn't on the defensive so for Daz to keep fighting back and show us some of his famous heart was a real nice touch as I'd begun to question if it was still there. Loved that Miller exploited Daz's brace, in a match where such details could be overlooked due to the violent nature and emotion of the match it was really cool to see Miller revert to form with a more composed, calculated style of offence, good stuff. Brilliant back and forth action sequence culminating in a Spencer Miller low-blow, stopping that momentum dead in it's tracks, love it.

The sequence of big-impact offence was written really nicely; from Miller, trapped in a Cloverleaf, rubbishing that referee's audacity to even ask if he wants to quit, to the Yakuza Kick/Samoan Drop/Mill Shot-Kill Shot all the way up to the Koji Clutch. Great stuff that really has you on the edge of your seat, back-and-forth, non-stop action that could go either way.

The ending was powerful. It was only a matter of time until Quinn's presence became a factor and the way the whole finale was written was really fucking good. Having Miller hit Quinn with the chair sky-rockets him through to a brand new level of despicable that not even Kaiser Cavanah can inhabit. Miller's dialogue through-out this whole portion was sublime too "you're going to watch every second of this and know that it's your fault". I mean, dude.

Ridiculously clever way to end the match and have Daz say 'I Quit', Miller cements his place as the most evil son of a bitch in PCW and whilst the result won't matter to him in the slightest under the circumstances, Daz loses again. Interesting that we're made to question again whether this is the end for Daz - I surely wouldn't have thought so after Miller put his hands on Quinn, but who knows? The only thing I know for sure though, is that if this feud does continue, it's going to get a lot more violent...if that's even possible. Great match guys, you definitely out-did the first one in my book.

Catwalk vs The J-Team - I agree that after the way the show has gone so far it was nice to have a match not really motivated by bad-blood and one that shouldn't get violent. Good back and forth with the tactics in the early-going with Brody thumbing the eyes and Double J using the ropes as leverage on the pinfall attempt - good, fun stuff with the two teams playing a little game of 'one-upsmanship' here.

Loved the spot where BJ clapped his own hands together behind the back of the referee to make him think that a tag had been made - really clever stuff and the J-Team's use of those crafty tactics seems to be working thus far. Is it only me that marked for the O'Connor roll just because I know Dale was writing and I always smile when I read one of those? :lol

Great sequence leading up to the finish with both sides hitting their share of power moves and I really dug the ending. Brody said he could out-cheat the J-Team and in the end that's exactly what he did, Melissa's presence proving vital once more which is key to any good manager and the J-Team remain looking strong in defeat. Good match and a much needed one at this stage of the card.

The Wedding - Oh boy, professional wrestling weddings...they don't have the best track record do they? Interested to see what's going to happen and whether what I think will happen...happens. Lmao platinum coated brass knuckles are quite the gift, not sure he'd be wise to wear them every day though! Uh-oh here we go commotion time...or not! The actual 'marriage' part of the ceremony somehow actually happens and the uproar begins afterwards which I thought was a nice way to avoid the usual cliches. I think we all knew Kyle was going to show up and the rest of the segment is pretty straight-forward. Good stuff though, nice breather from the in-ring action.

Foster vs Kaiser - First and foremost I need to say that I didn't pull anywhere near as much of my weight in this one as I should. I've been preoccupied in the last couple of weeks and really feel like I let Kaiser down - I know what it's like to work with someone who didn't step up when needed and I'm afraid that's what I was for this match, so I'll apologize again for that. Hope everyone enjoys the match though. The psychology worked really well I thought, the damage had already been done to Foster prior to the match so he knew he had to try and level the playing field as best he could as quick as he could if he was to stand a chance. The action was somewhat slower in the beginning than came at you thick and fast in the latter stages. I don't think this was as good as our Resurgence match but I take full responsibility for that and promise you all that I'll be bringing my A-game every week from here on in, you have my word on that! :tim

-------------------------------------------------------

Fucking awesome show guys, what a mammoth read that was.

It's so hard to pick my Match of the Night because I really wanted to give it to Magnum/Omega due to how clearly I could envisage that match going down in the latter's hometown and the powerful nature of the ending and post-match. Then I read Evans/Logan and whilst I don't think the actual match was better than the Lone Star Title match, I do think the story was phenomenal and easily the best story told on the night.

I'm going to cast my vote for Daz/Miller though. Wonderful writing, characterization, action and drama in a match that topped the first one which wasn't an easy feat plus the result came as a shock as I sort of assumed Daz would be getting the win to set up a rubber match at the next PPV. Very clever finish that should spill over for one more month at least.

Hard to believe we've been doing this for a year already. Bring on the next one! PCW! PCW! PCW! :tim

Re: PCW Genocide RESULTS!

Postby Everlong » Sep 15, '14, 2:37 pm

Wouldn’t have pegged Richard vs Zaid as the opener, but I dig it! Two PCW originals getting it kicked off right off the bat. Ever since I heard that Miz was referred to as the A-Lister, I can’t stop picturing Zaid as Miz :lol. The action of the match is really doing a lot to put over both of these characters—Zaid as the sneaky intelligent heel, Gryphon as the powerful yet perhaps overzealous rookie face. I like that the bearhug is turning into something of a gimmick for Gryphon, it’s always been a move best performed by big, burly power characters and it fits him well. “Zaid’s a pussy” chant? Lmao. Gryphon has had the advantage a fair portion of this match, though the exposed turnbuckle bit was a nice spot of heelishness. Ref bump in match #1, I have a feeling this is gonna be a bad night for refs :lol. It was a good way for Zaid to get a victory in a match where he was clearly overwhelmed. I think I picked Gryphon to win this one, so I was definitely surprised at the Zaid victory, but he needed it after dropping two PPVs to Johnny Valentino back to back. Good stuff guys.

Am I remembering this correctly? It seems like we’ve been getting Foster/Daz segments on PPV for each of the first several big shows now, and I like it a lot. The camaraderie they show in these segments seems to hint that they’ll be paired up against each other at some point down the road, but who knows.

I was really looking forward to Sears vs. Hess when it first got kicked off, but the disappearance of @saucernips has really flatlined this one to the point where (and I feel bad for ShaneO having to say this) it’s just a match to sorta just blow through on the card. But I’ll attempt to give it its due here:

Would not have expected a field plow this early to kick things off! Sears getting beat up in the early going here, and man, other than the rollup attempt this was a straight up squash. Can’t say I’m too surprised, there was not a chance in hell Sears was getting the victory. Feel bad for ShaneO, this one had so much more promise to it. Hopefully Hess can get an opponent who’ll be around for the next PPV—I know what’ it’s like to have someone flake out on you.

Really good promo from Hess afterwards—how did I never even predict that the secret was that Sears was gay? It seems so obvious in retrospect :lol. Hess looks despicable for outing the dude on PPV, and for beating the tar out of him. I’ll be interested to see where he goes from here.

It’s been so long since the last show went up that I completely forgot Ace is going under a different moniker now. Interesting promo here, and Ace is doing a good job with getting the character across. I’ll be intrigued to see who answers the open challenge.

Great entrance for Reece. And omg, the over the top injury stuff for Bishop is fantastic :lol This dude gets better every week. I kinda wish he’d have continued to milk the obviously fake injuries throughout the match, but it at least made for a hilarious start to the encounter.

Hardly a surprise that Bishop would attempt to take the easy way out with some cheap offense early on in the match. Good start for Orion, getting Reece grounded and delivering some punishment to the back. I like the idea of Reece not knowing when his body is telling him that he can’t do certain moves—it’s very much in keeping with his character and sort of reminds of a Jeff Hardy or a face Mike Maverick kind of deal. I think we could have gotten just a bit more emotion out of the fans or announcers in this one, but it’s a minor quibble. Overall, the match has told a good story—Bishop slows it down and gets control with some power, Reece fights back through the pain to deliver some unorthodox moves, Bishop manages to gain control back. I think both guys come out of this match looking good, but it’s an extremely important win for Bishop considering he’s still attempting to propel himself off the ground with this new character shift.

Hope everyone enjoys Omega/Magnum, the idea here was basically to turn the idea of “hometown hero fighting valiantly” on its head, and make it more of a story about the hometown hero being obviously way in over his head and being unable to make the valiant comeback. My only concern was that people seemed to be anticipating an even matchup so they may be disappointed by such a one-sided affair, but I hope the story we told made it worthwhile.

Don’t have time to read any more right now – I’ll continue on with my thoughts as I get time over the next couple days!

Ah, dammit. I didn't catch that when I was putting together the show. The tag team match was indeed scheduled to take place when it did, to get some much needed space between Daz/Miller and Kaiser/Foster. I guess Daz got confused. Oh well.

I've read the first couple matches up to Logan/Evans I believe. I plan on posting my thoughts on those sometime before delving into the mammoth I Quit match.

Not at all. I think it made Magnum look like a total beast, so in my opinion the latter parts of that match were very well done. It gave me a real Lesnar/Cena at Summerslam vibe, which is appropriate since at this point I kinda see Magnum is the Texas version of Brock Lesnar.

@Romo was the only one who correctly predicted the Matt Sears secret, and he isn't even in the game anymore! :lol

Zaid vs Richard – Good match to start things off. The story and characters stayed very consistent and true throughout with some good action thrown in. The only thing I’d say is there really wasn’t a lot of momentum shifting moments that would really take the match to the next level. It was Richard taking control early and then Zaid coming out of nowhere for a victory that was far too clean for my liking. For Zaid to get a win with so little offense I would have liked to see him use the ropes or tights or something to secure the win.

Paths of Destiny – Good little human element of a segment here. It also does a nice job of reminding everyone of the injuries of the heroes of the night without being totally direct with it.

Sears vs Hess – This one was a little abrupt for my liking. It almost felt like the match began in the middle which was a little strange, but still it accomplishes the goal of making Hess look strong.

Secret No More – OK, gotta say this one made me groan. I don’t know where this goes from here for Sears. There’s no good payoff for putting this decision out there. Maybe things will get better and something good will come out of this, but this one seemed unnecessary to me.

NPT – Not really a fan of initials for a name and not really sure what this segment is really going to prove. It was written well though. Decent enough of a segment, just not totally necessary.

A Man’s Man, Reece vs Bishop – It was fun working with Brett, I hope everyone enjoys this match.

Omega vs Magnum – The energy and build to the start of this match were fantastic. You could feel things picking up and the crowd really being into this one. A really good story was told with this match where Magnum looks heartless and unstoppable and Omega looks unrelenting. The only issue I have at this point would be the fact that the match told essentially the same story as the one that came before it, just in a more extensive way – making the match before it less impactful.

Silent Prairie – Nice emotional and heartfelt segment. You could feel Omega’s pain and the disappointment of the crowd. It was really well done.

Doom’s Day – Certainly an interesting debut. I’m highly intrigued by where this story is heading. It could be a really good work that covers some territory we rarely get into.

Logan vs Evans – Very realistic portrayal of this match. I love how everything sort of built off that very even beginning to Logan showing a bit of his flashy and arrogant side. Then the definite momentum switch when Evans kicked out was beautiful. I love when Evans let’s his more brutal side out. He can be so intense and exciting and as things unraveled in this match it was a lot of fun to read him go after Logan. Evans heel turn at the end of this match was one of the most shocking things I’ve read in this fed. It really pissed me off in a good way, just because I like the Shane Evans good guy character so much that I’ll hate hating him moving forward.

On a Roll – I love Dan Morrison, he’s a real throw back to the characters I grew up with as managers and he was great in this promo. I really like Bernard’s new personality as well. Solid promo throughout.

Bernard vs Tsuyoshi – Not much more to say about this match. Except I can’t wait until Bernard actually has to compete.

Last Walk – Great segment to give this next match a real big fight feel.

Daz vs Spencer Miller – Loved the way this match started with Miller coming out from the crowd and Daz jumping on him before he could get to the ring. It was a real unique touch for this match to begin with how other matches have begun on the show to this point. If I have one assessment of this match early on it’s that Daz became too weak too quickly. I mean for the length and craziness of this match it would have been nice to see him hold up better early on. It’s almost unrealistic for him to keep going after all that time. The finish to this match was brilliant. Daz just wouldn’t give in until he was faced with something that hurt more than anything Miller could have done to his body.

NRC vs J-Team – Washington came off a bit too whiny for my tastes as what a face should be like in that situation. He wasn’t drawing sympathy, but more ire to me. The handstand out of the monkey flip was very awesome for me to read. Just sounds like a great idea. Good match overall and it’s nice to see NRC retain, but to be honest something seemed just a bit off about this match. The usual flow wasn’t in the same pattern or something.

Wedding – Nice way for this to go down. You knew it would go smoothly, but the surprise at the end was a good one.

Kaiser vs Foster – I was pleasantly surprised just how much wrestling there was in this match because it fits with Foster and Kaiser’s personality and background so well. You guys also tied in the elements with the cage and ladder well as well, but I really liked the beginning of this match. Although, I thought the use of the ladder was far better than the use of the cage in the middle of the match. I feel like there was more that could have been done with the cage itself to make it seem more than a ladder match. The sequence at the top of the ladder with both men fighting was my favorite moment of the night. Incredible finish. Just amazing. I can’t wait to read Foster’s thoughts on the next show.

Continuing where I left off!

I’m unfamiliar with Doom—I can’t remember if he was ever in WCSF or not. Not sure about having “Thank You Doom” chants for a guy who last competed a bunch of years ago in a totally different fed, but that’s ok. I definitely am liking the twist on the “old wrestler comeback” angle that he’s giving here though, using the gladiator line and calling the fans bloodthirsty. Good stuff. The fact that he’s abandoning his stage name is a great way to sell this storyline. He refers to this as a “cameo” though. Does this mean this was just a one off appearance? I’m a bit confused there—I hope we get more of him, as it was definitely an intriguing promo and a promising character direction.

Logan vs. Evans—I’ll leave it up to all of you to determine what’s really happening here and where both men go from here. All I can say is I’m pretty proud of the finished product of this and it was a different and challenging sort of match to write. PS: I just realized @Str8Shooter forgot to add Evans’ entrance… oh well :lol

This Drake Bernard stuff is ridiculous in the best possible way :lol Love the whole “beaten three former champs” bit. And I love the countout victory with the guy not even showing up—hilarious :lol. I hope Bernard moves on to something good, because this is by far the best character iteration he’s had yet and I’d like to see him get a shot at a good feud.

Good segment leading into the Daz/Miller match. Gotta feel like the whole business with Evelyn has been building to her getting involved here somehow. We’ll see what happens!

Daz/Miller time. Like the hot start for this—there’s no way Daz was gonna want to wait at all for this one to get going. American History X reference… nice. Would a ref really be concerned about keeping the action in the ring in an I Quit match? It’s been so long since I’ve seen one that I forget these kinds of intricacies. Oh that’s why, I didn’t realize the bell hadn’t actually rung yet, haha. Early on we get a mention of the referee asking if Daz wishes to continue… good way to reestablish Daz as the underdog here and remind us of the uphill battle he’s faced in this feud so far.

Some pretty brutal action… the body slam on the chairs, the clock-cleaning kicks. Daz spitting in Miller’s face is a surprise—you know shit’s getting serious when Daz resorts to that sort of thing. I love the references to Omega/Miller in the previous segment and going into this match. It adds some context for what Daz is facing, as well as some continuity from earlier stuff on the show. With the kind of beating Daz is taking in this match, you gotta think he’s not doing the length of his career any favors haha. That collision with the apron and the bow and arrow around the post was a cool and unique sequence.

It’s cool to see that same injured knee of Daz continuing to play such a factor after all this time. I’m presuming that hearkens all the way back to the Executioner food? That hip and midsection of Daz is taking an absolute beating… the chair coming out now, Christ. That spot with Daz spearing himself into the chair to knock it into Miller’s face… I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like that before, cool stuff. This is getting brutal now, “ripping, tearing and biting at the wound…” ew :lol In fact, lots of people are going to be worse for the wear after this show, aren’t they? Miller certainly doesn’t seem to be doing great after that table crash.

I was starting to feel like this match really lacked an extra emotional element, but I’m starting to get into it now here as things approach the end. Daz locking in the Great British Cloverleaf, then putting the boot on the head was an awesome twist and moment, and the match really came alive for me there. Love the idea of Daz seemingly almost ruining is own chances at winning by expending so much energy into beating the piss out of Miller. The whole “gunshot” mime was some fantastic heelishness to signal Miller pulling out all the stops with the Koji Clutch. The image of a bloodied Daz locked in that clutch is awesome, I can just imagine the heat. Almost wish it would have ended like that, honestly.

Not sure how I feel about Daz just taking a spear and getting back up so quickly. After everything he’s been through in this match, that seems a bit much. However, Daz calling for chairs from the audience was awesome. Hearkens back to ECW. Big Dazaster Driver onto the chairs! Awesome little mic work by Daz afterwards, and the samoan drop in retaliation was great. Ok, here comes Quinn, things seem to have been building to this for weeks. Daz getting absolutely plastered by chair shots. Evelyn throwing in the towel… is that even a thing in wrestling? Haha. Yep, boom, there goes Evelyn! Not a good night for female managers/significant others, is it? :lol Yep, I had a feeling this was coming – Daz quits to protect Evelyn. That was the only way introducing her and her part in the feud the last few weeks would have made sense.

Nice match. It took me quite a while to get into it, I have to admit, but it ended in style and when you end with a bang, that’s going to leave a lasting impression. Good work guys. Another big win for Miller, and you gotta feel like this is heading to one more PPV.

Ok, after reading that beast of a match I need to take another break. I’ll get to the rest of the show a different day.

Oh well, I'm on the record as thinking that entrances are a waste of time anyway :P

Re: PCW Genocide RESULTS!

Ok, time to finish up the show.

I’ll be honest and say I’m not particularly invested in the tag teams at the moment. Maybe it’s because there’s so few of them, maybe it’s because only one (NRC) and maybe two (Comeaus) have really been built up at all, but I don’t get particularly excited to read the stuff they’re involved with. Maybe that’s just the nature of SIM fed stuff, because I always had similar struggles with the tag teams in WCSF, but it’s probably more pronounced because there are fewer established teams now, and fewer teams in general.

However, after the last couple matches it’ll be nice to have one that’s solely about competition and not about REVEEEEEENGE, so we’ll se how this goes!

I like the dynamic established in the early going of NRC being “all business” so to speak and looking to defend their titles, with the J-Team going to any lengths needed to get the advantage. More than any other heels in the fed it seems that the J-Team rely on underhanded tactics within the match. I’d like to see them play up their personality a bit more during the actual match though—we know they’re cheaters but what do we know about their personalities?

I feel like this match was way too long given its space on the card to be kind of a breather between Daz/Miller and the main event, it got difficult for me to hold my attention. Unsurprising that NRC picked up the victory, but it’s going to be interestin to see where they go from here. I’d guess that either it’s the J-Team again, or the Zanettis get bumped up.

Wedding time! Been looking forward to this. “How the hell do you call a wedding?” hahaha, great line. Also, LMAO at Hiroshi and The Master being at the wedding. Brass knuckles covered in platinum… true romance, people. I’m actually a bit surprised that the wedding actually got to the point of kissing the bride before the inevitable disruption! And whoah, a mystery attacker? This isn’t Dylan Kyle, so I’m rather surprised. Oh wait, yeah it is :lol. Good way to kick off this feud—couldn’t help but laugh at the image of Gia drenched in champagne and furious about the disaster, haha.

LADDERCAGE TIME :tim :tim :tim :tim

I totally forgot that the cage has been expanded to include some of the ringside area. I think it’s a good move—PCW doesn’t have the dome of doom, so it doesn’t hav eto worry about that differentiating factor. And I like that the change came into play so early on as well, with Foster taking the fight to Kaiser and then Foster careening into the ladder near the apron. Good way to remind us of the rule change.

Going to be interesting to see the strategies the two employ. Early on here Kaiser goes up as if it’s a ladder match, but the better move might be for one of them to try to get on top of the cage first and THEN grab the title. Anyway. That crazy armbar through the ladder was a badass idea, perfect for Foster’s MMA character. Pretty solid action here, and definitely a difference in strategies between Kaiser and Foster—Foster seems intent to do enough damage necessary to keep Kaiser down, whereas Kaiser seems eager to pick his shots whenever he can. Good way to hearken back to Kaiser injuring Foster’s leg on Onslaught, nice continuity in the feud there. Kaiser’s getting in some good moves, but I’m actually slightly surprised at how much of the offense has gone in Foster’s favor. Leads me to think that Kaiser’s got something big up his sleeve later in the match.

Oh and there we go, back in control for Kaiser. Loved the failed Kaiser bomb into snap suplex onto the ladder sequence. Snap suplexes are woefully underutilized :P Loved Foster putting the ladder over Kaiser’s throat to hold him in place—very unique idea there and it works well for the match type. I actually thought this was going to be the moment that we saw the belt get unhooked, but apparently not! The moment with Kaiser posing on the ladder only for Foster to get back up was badass, that’d definitely be one of those moments that gets constantly replayed in the weeks after the PPV. The whole “ladder symbolizing Foster’s climb” bit—beautiful.

What would an epic ladder encounter be without a “BOO/YAY” sequence at the top rung? And sweet spot with the triangle choke on top of the ladder, really cool. I like that Kaiser was the one to unhook the belt here, especially given he’s almost certain to lose this match. Not sure about Cavanah using Foster’s body as a stepping stone, that seems a little too over the top to me, but whatever I’ll accept it haha. But that was a fantastic final sequence atop the cage, with the FCC to seal it.

Really fun match, probably my favorite of the show. Even though the winner was always going to be Foster and there was never a doubt in my mind, it was still a ton of fun to read. Great job guys.

Whew, I’ve written a lot of comments on this show now. It was a beast. Despite a few of my criticisms, I think this was overall a really solid show. I’d have to take a quick review of the other PCW PPVs but this one may also be the best yet.

Well done folks.
