So who wins the Rumble?

Postby CMPUNKFAN » Dec 15, '15, 1:30 am

I really don't want to see another Reigns/Lesnar match at WM but I believe that is what we are gonna get.

Who do you guys think is gonna win the rumble?

I still think a HHH rumble win is very possible.

I 100% think so to and I really hope. I wouldn't mind a Owens/Lesnar , Cena/Taker and HHH/Reigns as the co main events.

They'll still find a way for Reigns to win it.

But nah at this point I'll go with Cena.

I think it will be Lesnar. I really hope it isn't HHH. HHH should not be competing for the WWEWHC in 2016.

Outside shot: Dean Ambrose

Really only seems to be a handful of options is Reigns holds the title til Mania, which I believe he will:

1) Triple H - People will automatically roll their eyes at the prospect of Trips winning the Rumble and getting a title shot at Mania. But it might not be that bad, I mean we know Reigns and him and clashing at some point, it might be before Mania which takes him out of the running.

2) John Cena - I feel like Reigns/Cena at Mania is going to happen at some point, although this year is probably too soon. The worry is with this match that both guys will end up getting booed and the match gets crapped on.

3) Brock Lesnar - The most likely scenario I think. Lesnar comes in at the Rumble and obliterates people to win and get his rematch with Reigns at Mania. The worry with this is that Brock likely gets cheered over Reigns, which Triple H might not.

Outside shot:

4) Dean Ambrose - Having Ambrose win the Rumble and then go with the big build to the clash between the two friends. You could even have Ambrose turn heel in the build up. Let's face it though, Ambrose isn't getting that slot over the three guys mentioned above :P

Brett hit the nail on the head. Those four are the only possible winners of the Royal Rumble. They're either going to go for one of their big established stars, or Ambrose because of his history with Roman. Very few other people make sense, and of those who do, none of them are getting that level of push in the next month.

I think Lesnar is the most likely candidate, but for Reigns to get over huge, Triple H or a heel Cena would be his best opponents. Heel Ambrose could work too if done right (there is a risk if done wrong that people will cheer Ambrose over Reigns). Lesnar is probably the worst person for Reigns to fight if they want him to get a unanimous face reaction, but I still think that's the match we're probably going to get.

Let's say Reigns faces HHH at the Royal Rumble or Fast Lane and then faces Lesnar at Mania. Let's also assume that he beats both of them. Then what? Does he face Cena? If he beats Cena, then what? See this is why I can't stand WWE's booking. If they do this, they are going to prop Reigns up on such a pedestal that no one will be able to beat him clean. It was the same problem with Cena. Pushing Reigns is fine, but they will need to really do some work at building up the rest of the roster at the same time. They are going to need credible heels or else we are right back at square one.

Best case scenario would be Reigns faces HHH at Mania and Kevin Owens faces Lesnar. Even though I don't like HHH fighting for the WWEWHC in 2016. If Owens can take Lesnar to the limit (even in defeat), he would at least have the legitimacy to face Reigns next year. Every great hero needs a great villain. Cena had Orton, Austin had (Corporate) Rock, and Hogan had Andre.

Yeah, the problem with their booking is that they decided they were going to push Reigns, so they haven't pushed anyone else at the same time. You can't put all your eggs in one basket like that. Even if Reigns does become the guy, the way they want him to, he's going to need opponents. And their heels suck right now.

They should be doing everything they can to get Owens over, and they should have others that they're working on at the same time. At this point things are desparate enough that I really think they should consider bringing up Joe to play the dominant heel character.

They've had this problem in the past, where they built a new guy and then the title reign wasn't good because they didn't have any opponents. Ultimate Warrior is a good example of this. If Roman Reigns is to have a good title reign, he needs three great strong heel challengers lined up for him over the next few months.
