I'd say Wade is the perfect example of someone the company has dropped the ball with. While he has had a number of untimely injuries over the years that ended up halting his momentum, Creative hasn't done much to help Barrett realize the potential the company clearly sees in him. It seems like every time he's returned from an extended absence they immediately put the IC title on him, or have him win a KOTR tournament, or do something else that indicates they see value in him. Yet these would-be pushes are usually over before they begin, as he routinely gets pinned on television by the likes of R-Truth.

Part of the problem is that they see accolades like the IC title and King of the Ring as an alternative to giving someone plenty of television time and a sustained push. It's the Money in the Bank mentality. They think if they put some kind of meaningless title on the guy that people will buy him as a star, and they don't have to put the effort in. This fails 100% of the time. Because nobody takes these titles seriously anymore. Why should they?

Winning something like the King of the Ring is far more of a curse than a blessing at this point. It's absolutely ruined Barrett. It did Sheamus no favours either, back when he held it.

See for me it's the opposite. I don't like Barrett much and every time that they've persuaded me to believe that he's never getting another push, WWE fucking pushes him.
