The finish of the Taker/Lesnar match

Postby DanielsonTHAGOAT » Aug 23, '15, 8:44 pm

Holy fuck, arguably one of the worst finishes in a match. They tried to make both guys look strong at the end but this match did nothing for Taker or Lesnar's credibility from a kayfabe/storyline perspective.

You're fucking out to lunch pal, brilliant finish. Ref misses Taker tapping out clean, Taker uses it to cheat and Brock passes out with an awesome visual with the middle finger. Taker should have lost again to Brock, but now has the "win", and there's a clear reason for a third match.

I liked the finish. It's just dumb that the fucking time keeper would end the match. Especially since he couldn't see the tap from his angle. Also he doesn't decide! They could have just had Lesnar pass out clean with the bird. Or figured another way to get the same result.

The finish was poorly executed though, there's been times where the WWE had a similar ending and pulled it off better. Plus, it was incredibly corny how hard they were trying to push the angle of this being "a different Undertaker", like a 50 year old man is going to put up a competitive fight against the most dominant wrestler in the company. It just makes no sense. The WWE constantly wants to put over older talent for no reason.

The only thing that was messed was the timekeeper calling for the bell, he must have the best vision ever to see that from there :lol

Otherwise, it was incredibly well thought out for a WWE ending. Taker wins under dubious circumstances, but yet still wins. Brock still looks like a beast, he made Taker tap, and passed out in fantastic fashion. Now there is a legitimate reason as any for a third match between the two. Brock doesn't want an "L" on his record when he actually won the match.

Not sure how Taker is supposed to be the good guy after that. He quit, took advantage of a guy who had his back turned and cheated. LOL

At this point I think they have to bring up the fact that he probably can't beat Brock clean anymore and that's why he is doing this.

The problem with the ending is that it makes no sense for the time keeper to call for the bell. To be fair I am also not that big a fan of this feud because non of these matches lead to anything of note. They are just one offs that have little story behind them and are used for the spectacle. The match was fine for what it was, but the ending seemed poorly executed. Now we wait 7 months for this feud to end. Oh boy (sarcasm).

The thing that annoys me about the ending is that if the time keeper can see Taker tapping out and calling the victory then surely he sees the lowblow for a DQ.... he sees Jon Stewart hitting Cena with a chair.... it's just a stupid finish

He was busy telling the ref and Heyman what happened when the low blow happened. It wasn't perfect but I appreciate the effort to try something different and not just having Taker win clean to set up the third match, this is more compelling going forward.

That was a terrible finish but Heyman's brilliance slightly sold it to me.

Dumb finish. Both of the big matches had screwy finishes.

It's amazing how much like WCW this company is now. It's night and day between NXT and WWE.

All set up for Taker vs. Lesnar III at WM32. But looks like a poor finish for a big WWE PPV.

My guess would be the rematch at Survivor Series and it'll be Taker/Lesnar IV.

I think it'll be Undertaker vs Sting and Brock vs Rock at WM32.

You are probably right and that's a shame for the product as a whole. Two matches, that will likely be the main events, that will have little story, less interaction, and nothing happen afterwords that will help the weekly shows post mania.

Undertaker and Lesnar realising they'll be booked for another big spot at Mania.

On a positive note, I really enjoyed that match. It really blew their last one out of the water. Major props to The Undertaker for still being able to deliver a great performance - that is when he truly redeemed himself in my mind. Too bad about the screwy finish and setup for Taker/Lesnar 3. I just don't see how they can top this match, especially on a card that will be as stacked with big matches as Wrestlemania 32. They should do it at Night of Champions or Survivor Series, but they won't.
