We may actually be getting Bryan vs. Ziggler at WM.

Postby CMPUNKFAN » Jan 28, '15, 11:10 pm

As noted recently, Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan was rumored to be in the works for WrestleMania 31, however WWE has changed their mind and are expected to go in a different direction.

The recent interaction between Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan is not just social media chatter, as WWE is currently building towards an eventual Ziggler vs. Bryan match for WrestleMania.

I would love to see that match

Would people be satisfied for this match, even though it'd ultimately be meaningless?

At first some will, but when the match ultimately is better then the Main event, people will argue that a match like that got relegated to mid card status. That's why it has to be a #1 contenders match. That way people can feel like both guys are in some way part of the main event scene going forward.

Well, it sure as hell is going to be better than Reigns/Lesnar, which I doubt is even going to be any good.

Surely the bookers would fuck up the quality of this match, to ensure, like they did at the Rumble that nothing takes the shine away from Reigns and his match with Brock? Probably give it a short time for a match.

Throwing a bone to the smarks is exactly what this looks like. I can't imagine this match having any sort of interesting build to it. Not to mention that it'll be like 7th on the card and probably would get 10 minutes if that. It'll be a great 10 minutes I'm sure, but ultimately inconsequential.

What's funny about this is - and I was talking about this with Nick before the Royal Rumble - it seemed since the start of the year that there was a 50/50 chance that Bryan would be in the Wrestlemania main event, but if he wasn't in the main event, then he'd be way down at the bottom of the card. Which is fucking insane when you think about it, but it's what we all presumed. He'd either face Lesnar for the title or have a throwaway match against someone like Sheamus. And it looks like we were right.

I guess we all should have known that Reigns would win the Rumble, given none of us ever believed that he wouldn't be in one of the most prominent spots at Wrestlemania. But it's insane that someone who is popular enough to be the main draw of the show will likely be fighting in the 7th most important match on the card.

Makes you realise how fucked up Vince's priorities really are.
