I'm thinking of attending Wrestle Mania next year ...

Postby Tom » Apr 08, '14, 1:49 pm

My friend and I are strongly considering attending next years Wrestlemania in Los Angeles. I have already looked up the average price of flights as well as the price of the Wrestlemania packages that are available, and I think financially it is viable. We are currently looking at either the silver package or the platinum package. If we can get another couple of people to go (my brother will probably end up coming along anyway if we do go), then we will more than likely get platinum tickets. It seems as if the packages get cheaper per person if you book for four people. This is all judging by looking at previous few years package information.

I know it is early days and everything but I am just wondering if anyone has attended Mania on one of the packages before? If so what was your experience like? Also, how much spending money would you have to bring from your own experiences? If I was going, it will probably be for the four nights that are offered with the package and then we will add another two or three nights to the hotel to give us time to do other stuff.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated so I can get planning the trip as soon as possible and also start saving financially!

It's not in LA, it's in Santa Clara, which is near San Francisco.

Yeah it's actually in northern California, probably 5 1/2 hours from LA. You might want to figure that into your plans.

L.A, California. Same thing :P

I know that it is closer to San Francisco than to L.A, the stadium is also only around 30 mins from the airport which is pretty awesome!

One thing to remember is California's coastline on the Pacific is almost the same distance as New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia combined. Cali is really three states in one.

Yeah, after some research I can see that the coast line is pretty big. As it stands, the plan would probably be to arrive in Santa Clara on the Thursday, experience the Wrestlemania weekend up until Raw finishes on the Monday. We may then head to L.A on the Tuesday and spend a couple of days there before coming home the Friday. All this is not set in stone but more so how we would like it to go depending on finances.

Anyone know what San Francisco is like as a city (ie is it expensive)? One of the selling points of this Mania to my friend is the possibility of going to L.A once Mania weekend is over. But I wouldn't mind trying to convince him to go to San Fran if it is a nice city. It would probably work out cheaper and much less hassle for us than going to L.A!

Do it if you can. Trust me. You will never forget it.

This California debate reminds me of when my sister went on her Honeymoon. She went to LA. I told her about my holiday one one year before and told her how much I enjoyed San Diego Zoo. She told me maybe she would rent a car and drive there to see it herself, thinking it wasn't that far. She soon changed her tune when I told her they are a couple of hours away from each other.

San Francisco is one of the more expensive cities in the United States, but also one of its most beautiful. It's also unique in that it's an incredibly liberal city, so you're bound to run into some sights there that are quite entertaining, haha.

Honestly if I was traveling, San Fran would have way more interest to me than LA, which is overcrowded. There's some stuff in LA that would be cool to see once, like Hollywood, but if I'm going to southern Cal I'd rather go to San Diego than LA. I'd say prioritize San Francisco over LA -- it's more interesting and it'd be much less of a hassle if you're staying in Santa Clara.

Also, Viazon, that's funny -- where I'm from here in the States, a couple hour drive isn't considered far at all :lol

Well, here in the tiny UK, it is!

Also, I would also like to declare my fondness for San Francisco. Very beautiful city. Would love to visit again.

Personally I would recommend San Fransisco over LA. San Fran is a relatively cool city, in my opinion LA is dirty and full of traffic. There are places to see obviously, but the Golden Gate Bridge is better than anything in LA.

Go to San Fran, LA is really not much of a spectacle but more of a huge dirty city.

It looks like I shall be trying to convince my mate to go to San Fran so. Thanks for the advice guys.

As I said, it is a high possibility that I will be going anyway. I have more than enough money for the silver package at the moment, it was the package I was going to go with initially because my brother is graduating this year and I was going to get him that package as a present also. But my mate thinks that if we are going to do it then we should 'do it properly' and get the platinum, ha.

The main reason I want to go is because I get the feeling that Taker will wrestle one more time and, if not, then he may be inducted into the Hall of Fame which would be awesome to see in person. Getting the chance to see other guys as well, such as Brock, possibly The Rock and others that you don't get to see on our shores would be great also. I have heard nothing but great things about the experience so far.

@Viazon. You went to Wrestlemania 22 right? Was the package deals around then? If so did you go on one of them?

I've been to LA before, ain't gone to SanFran yet though. LA is big and crowded and polluted and pretty gross. The Santa Monica pier and Venice Beach were pretty nice but nothing particularly special. I don't know if they count as LA or not but they were pretty much the same to me. Also when I was in LA the sky was grey from pollution every day that week. Where I live we have a blue sky that stretches forever so it was really gross to me.

Everyone I know who's gone to SanFran though has loved it. The Bay area comes highly recommended from my traveling friends. Just remember to save your money cause Cali is expensive.

I'm not sure if the package deals were around then. But I don't believe we got one. My friend just some tickets from eBay and then booked the flights and hotel on Expedia.

My advice would be to avoid the packages, they try and stick you In a shit hole and cost more money than doing it yourself. Hotels will cost a heap because of WRESTLEMANIA, there's no avoiding it so find your own hotel walking distance from the event/s. Driving out of there is a head fuck.

It's a bit more work to do it yourself but you'll save money and be happier.

Don't even think about not going.
