I'd be interested if the rest of the WWE Locker room feels the same way, maybe everyone respects Taker so much that no one wants to end the streak.

Cue Steve flipping his shit.

The undertaker and the streak is, and forever will be, the most prestigious thing that wwe has possession and control of. the streak has more respect with the fans and (I would presume) in the locker room than any title wwe has in their arsenal. If WWE ever decided to end the streak they would never be able to find a suitable person to do so. it could be new talent like bray wyatt or a veteran like Kane, Cena, HHH or even Sting, but the problem persists that no matter the build or hype to the match, the emotional and professional ties between taker and his challenger or even the fantasy of something like taker/sting, nothing would overcome the backlash and negative feedback that would come from the fans.
If someone like Bray conquered the streak, the internet would explode and "you suck" chants would start popping up in every arena. the reason I say this is because the streak has been built up so much that no normal wrestler would ever be able to live up to the standards that would be put upon them. If bray beat the streak then we would instantly start criticize every thing he does and hold him to a higher standard simply because he did beat the streak, he would never be as great as he was that one night.
If a veteran like Kane or Cena beat the streak the results would be opposite. they would not need to be evaluated and criticized on a daily basis because they have proven themselves and simply added another notch in their belt. as fitting as it would be for Kane to end the story with their history or as glorious as it would be for Cena to add the crown jewel to his already impressive resume, any veteran that does it would be kicked to the curb instantly because it was not a young guy deserving of a mega push like bray.
on to sting, this is just a bad idea all together. not only would the internet explode, but the whole industry would crumble if WWE allowed a guy to beat the streak on his very first WWE appearance, even if it is sting.
to sum it up, not a single person is capable of surviving the repercussions that would come from beating the streak, positive or negative.

I was not implying that the fans would not get over it, I know that it would eventually become accepted. I am saying that, especially for wyatt or any other young talent, that their careers would not recover before the fans accepted it. they would be buried by the fans so hard at the beginning that they would never be able to recover.

But that heat for a heel is ideal surely?
We're not talking Mordecai who was scared to be on telly here.

I don't know, I guess I am assuming that the breaking the streak is something that should be reserved for the elevation of a face and not to gain heat for a heal.
