03/05/14 NXT Discussion/Thoughts Thread

Postby Messiah » Mar 09, '14, 6:28 pm

Haven't seen any discussion for NXT this week and thought it would be a good idea to put up a thread to see what everyone thought about it. I'm really beginning to get into it.

Emma is just fucking fantastic and if you don't like her, then you are an evil human being. She's so likable and it is something that is really missing from a lot of faces nowadays. They don't have a lot of likable traits; we are just told we should like them. It was good she lost to Charlotte though. Emma still came across as credible due to Charlotte's sneaky ways. Charlotte's finisher looks really good too. I hope she doesn't come near the microphone too often (Ric Flair REALLY would be a fantastic manager for her; it just makes sense). Charlotte/Paige should be a great feud considering the two completely different personalities.

I liked Bo Dallas' promo a lot. I know a lot of people don't like the guy and I agree, he is below average in the ring (but tolerable). But I think he did a good job there and it makes sense for him to get a rematch considering he wasn't pinned and didn't tap out. I like the way everything he says just comes off so natural and not forced and his never-ending smile when he talks just makes you dislike him even more.

I don't know what everyone thinks about Graves but I am not that big of a fan. Don't get me wrong, he is solid in the ring and has an interesting look. I just don't like the portray of his character. I don't know if he is supposed to be a prima donna (the way he enters and leaves the ring), a rebel who doesn't care, etc. I don't think he is bad or anything, but nothing special. Sami Zayn, on the otherhand, is awesome. Like Emma, is just a really easy guy to root for. I wonder if Cesaro will get involved eventually considering Graves saying he could beat Cesaro and them mentioning it again in the main event. Plus, Cesaro is still featured in the NXT intro. It would be fun to have Cesaro as the guy who appears every now and then for the NXT guys to test themselves against. Nevertheless, solid main event and good that Zayn got the win because he needed it but Graves still came out of it looking credible.

I imagine they will have more events like NXT Arrival for NXT that will be live and 2 hours, sort of like their own "pay-per-view" (or for better term, supershow). They manage their time really well, though.

1. Emma is fantastic. Likable, entertaining, and very talented in the ring. Granted this wasn't her best match because Charlotte is green as grass. Amazing finisher though. I do hope Sasha gets a shot at Paige first because she a more talented wrestler and I like the boss gimmick.

2. Bo's appeal is that everyone truly does dislike him for being average and looking like a rapist. He does an amazing job of using that belief and trolling the crowd. Kudos to a man for take a little amount of talent and turning it around.

3. Zayn is the best thing to happen to the WWE since Daniel Bryan got hired. I say this with a completely straight face. Zayn is the most likeable and relatable person on the WWE roster (Main or NXT). He hits so many demos its crazy. This match was solid not great, but that because Graves really has to figure out how to speed up his offense. He tends to lag way too much. I like Graves, but his biggest issue is his averageness. Average in the ring, average on the mic, and his look is meant for a much bigger guy or CM Punk. He is essentially low brow Punk. He could benefit from a gimmick change.

Next week I am looking forward to the debut of Solomon Crowe (Sami Callihan). This is Dean Ambrose's old indy tag team partner and the promos they cut were simply amazing. From what I have heard the crowd embraced him from the start so that awesome. Here is his live event debut. Teaser:
