SURVIVOR SERIES 2003
We kick off this year's Survivor Series with a breakdown of the concept of brand rivalry and the way that Bischoff and McMahon are rewarding each member of the roster for their roles.
Intercontinental vs United State Championship Match -- Rob Van Dam vs Big Show
They show a video package before the opening match of RVD and his ally Booker T in the locker room where Booker wishes RVD good luck, but Bischoff comes into the locker room and starts to talk down to RVD and tell him how he doesn't think he can defeat the much bigger Big show by himself and Bischoff refuses to let RAW lose the first Survivor Series RAW vs SD match. Bischoff then tells Booker he is holding him personally responsible for making sure RVD wins or Booker is fired and RVD will be stripped of the IC title.
Booker makes his way down to ringside with RVD during introductions and looks somewhat perplexed by being out there, but then Big Show makes his way down to the ring. With Booker encouraging him RVD starts the match off fast, getting in his quick kicking offense and flying around the ring until he goes for rolling thunder and Big Show catches him and using his feet propels RVD high through the air and crashing down to the mat.
As Big Show lays his offense in Bischoff comes down to ringside and starts berating Booker to do his job until Austin's music hits and the Assistant GM comes down and stuns Bischoff to a massive pop that actually serves to distract Big Show and allowing RVD to trip him up and go back on offense. Eventually, RVD goes for the Five Star Frog Splash, but Big Show bounces him off and goes back on offense. Bischoff recovers in time to hand Booker a chair and force him to enter reluctantly into the ring, where he hits Show in the stomach with the chair to bend him over, Booker then hits him on the back before running off the ropes with a scissors kick and letting RVD climb again and hit the frog splash for the 1, 2, 3... RAW 1, SD 0. RVD retains the IC belt and picks the stipulation for his match at Armageddon.
Women's 5-on-5 match -- Team RAW (Gail Kim, Ivory, Jazz, Lita, Stacy Keibler) vs Team SD (Dawn Marie, Nidia, Sable, Stephanie, Torrie Wilson)
Smackdown doesn't really have a women's division at this point and that seems to hold them back and make their team decided underdogs against Team RAW. That plays out as Gail Kim and Lita work quickly to pin Nidia into the corner and work double teams before eliminating her. Team Raw then looks to be on the same way of handling Dawn Marie, but Stephanie confronts the official and demands he starts doing a better job of calling the match for SmackDown, this distraction allows Sable to jump in and help Dawn Marie get back on track, eventually eliminating Keibler.
As the match goes on it gets down to Torrie Wilson as the only member of SmackDown vs Ivory and Jazz for Raw. She manages to outsmart and outlast them both when Ivory was legal, but she spears Jazz by accident and allows Torrie to hit her finisher on Ivory to get the pin and then pins a still stunned Jazz for the win SD 1, RAW 1. Torrie Wilson gets the match of her choice at No Way Out.
World Tag Champions vs WWE Tag Team Champions -- The Dudleyz vs the Basham Brothers
Stephanie goes into the Bashams' locker room before this match and closes the door to presumably talk strategy or make an inspirational or threatening speech about their prospects in this next match.
As the match starts, the Dudleyz are introduced first and the Bashams come from out of the crowd to get the jump on their opponents and it works for a time, but eventually the Dudleyz recover in time to start laying into them. Bubba tosses Doug out of the ring where D-Von and Bubba put the illegal Basham through the Spanish announce table. The Dudleyz return to the ring and hit another 3-D on Danny and quickly take care of the match. RAW 2, SD 1. Dudleyz get to choose their opponents for Armageddon.
Women's Champion Molly Holly vs SD's Torrie Wilson
Torrie represents SmackDown in her second match of the night against women's champ Molly Holly, but fatigue sets in and eventually Molly Holly gets the clean victory and gets to pick the stipulation for her match with Ivory at Armageddon. Raw 3, SD 1
Men's Traditional 5-on-5 Match -- Team RAW (Batista, HHH, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, Christian) w/ Ric Flair vs Team SD (Brock Lesnar, Chris Benoit, Edge, John Cena, Rikishi) w/ Paul Heyman
Stephanie rallies her troops after the last match and makes it perfectly clear that they must win out and preserve a tie against Team RAW in the night's festivities.
Total chaos ensues in this match with Christian and Edge brawling throughout the arena early on and getting a double countout, Flair and Heyman start a slugfest of their own making both managers go toe to toe, eventually leading to Batista being distracted and getting eliminated before both managers are tossed out after getting into the ring during their fight. The match ends when John Cena and Brock Lesnar eliminate Shawn Michaels. Lesnar gets a championship match with Angle at No Way Out, while John Cena gets the 30th entrant into the Royal Rumble.
WWE vs WHC Match -- Kurt Angle vs Goldberg
In this clash of styles, Goldberg starts off using his power to get ahead, but Angle's technique shines through and they continue to go back and forth like that with a series of close calls and quality reversals until it looks like Goldberg is about to set up his Three Moves of Doom, but Team Angle interferes. Goldberg dispatches of Benjamin and then hits a modified Jackhammer in which he throws Haas out of the ring, but it allows Angle to hit the Angle Slam and nearly get the pin. Goldberg kicks out and looks to go back on offense, but Angle catches him off guard and locks in the Ankle Lock to earn the victory and the right to pick his stipulation against Lesnar at No Way Out.
