If you get a chance to watch this HBO Sports' documentary on Andre The Giant then it is excellent and his journey from France to North America is detailed, and if like me, you only knew him from that iconic moment at WM3 then it's worth a watch.
Best part for me was Hogan retelling of the end of the match and Andre The Giant messing with him about the finish, and Hulk was worried he wouldn't do the job and no-one seemed to have the courage to ask Andre. And then during the match, he surprised Hogan by doing what was expected of him at that time.
He was a unique character for that era, where as now there are endless big men (explains Vince's fascination of them) but Andre The Giant was the complete package. His aura was driven by wrestling in the territories on a sporadic basis and he built up the record that ended with his loss to Hogan.
Sad as well when you consider how his career ended when he really should have called it a day after Mania 3 and his heel turn should have been temporary before he left on a higher note. Man, he could drink but doubt that helped him with his physical limitations and on-going pain.
If you can watch it, then do. It's worth it
