It would only work if WWE was to acquire Impact and a group of the current wrestlers came in as an invading force. But does the current roster have a bunch of guys that you would even want to see in WWE? At least in that sort of major main roster program? I'm not so sure.
There are a few problems with putting together a group of former Impact guys. First of all, not everyone knows them as Impact guys. A large portion of WWE's main audience won't associate them with Impact. They'll associate them with what they've done on Raw or Smackdown. Or maybe NXT, Ring of Honor or New Japan.
WCW was a much bigger promotion than TNA, but WWE failed to bring on the biggest stars from WCW during the invasion. Whereas only the cream of the crop have made their way from TNA to WWE. So weirdly while the WCW stable was kind of pathetic back in 2001, a TNA stable now would have too much star power.
AJ Styles is a two time WWE champion and one of the biggest stars in the company. Samoa Joe is a main event guy who would probably be a bigger star by now if not for some unfortunately timed injuries. Kurt Angle is the General Manager of Raw and a wrestling legend. Eric Young is already the leader of his own stable. EC3 is the new guy, but his gimmick is a main event gimmick, not that of a lackey.
Not only do most of these guys seem wrong for any position other than leader of a stable, but they also have nothing in common on the surface of things. It's harder to think of a combination of guys less compatible.
It would be cool if WWE bought TNA's library some day, because it would let them put together some great DVDs on some of their current stars. But I don't see the appeal in a genuine crossover.
