How long is Goldberg v Lesnar going for? (not including entrances)

Shorter than their Survivor Series match?

How long will Goldberg v Lesnar last?

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Mar 28, '17, 3:11 am

It's the match primarily I'm interested in so not expecting it to be long although I do think it'll be around 15mins plus 5min for the entrances etc. WWE might want to make it a shoot style MMA battle or just an out-right brawl with both men using the surroundings incorporated into the match.

Your thoughts on the match style and length?

I think it will mostly be a brawl with some outside the ring action and both men hitting their finishers 2-3 times. Overall I would imagine it would last 8-12 minutes from bell to bell.

Considering the rest of the roster, I hope for the next 15 years.

Oh, match time? I'm expecting 15 minutes.

You serious, bro? They arguably have the strongest roster that any wrestling company has ever had considering the talent.

I would be very surprised to see Lesnar/Goldberg go any longer than 10 minutes, especially on a card with so many matches.

Speaking of match length. I would be shocked if Taker-Reigns goes longer than 10 mins as well.

Yeah I think in the area of 5 minutes is probably a safe bet. I'd have hoped they'd have learned from 13 years ago that Goldberg just can't work 20+ minute matches at PPV without the crowd turning on the action.

I just can't see them going under 10 minutes considering this is likely their last match. I mean they're not going to working some frenetic pace given who's in there. Start out fast going back and forth with some big moves, maybe a finisher or two with kickouts. Then slow it down, brawl on the outside for a few minutes, come back in and finish.

It should probably go around 12 minutes. No longer and no shorter than that. And I reckon that's probably what we'll get. Could be a good match too, if they add the right smoke and mirrors. Goldberg and Lesnar are both good at what they do. I have an epic lack of excitement for this match, but I still think it can deliver from bell to bell.

It's funny, I feel like I've heard that for every year the past decade and yet the the product is still the drizzling shits.

I'd say 10-12 minutes. Anymore than that it's going to blow.

Man, you're really trying to take Hanley's gimmick to a whole new level.

I don't see how that's fair. I agree with Vader actually. I think this is the best roster WWE have had by quite a margin. And the past three years (particularly pre-brand split) has had a consistently higher standard of in-ring action than they've ever had before.

The product is still kinda crappy some times, but that's all on how they book and manage their talent. Not the talent themselves. But even the booking has improved over the last couple of years. I'm down on it right now because Wrestlemania season WWE is the worst, but they put out a lot of great content throughout most of 2016. We're far removed from the kind of shit we were seeing back in 2010.

And come on, you really think I want to see Goldberg and Brock Lesnar wrestling for another 15 years? :P

How was 2016 great? Is there a name for watching something that's so bad when it's only painfully mediocre it seems great? NXT has been an old folks home, brand split hasn't been a colossal failure but it's still not something that was worth doing. I don't know man. Memes and gimmicks aside, there is only so long I can be like "it's the writers fault" until I say fuck them both. The best part of last year and this year is the Miz. That's....man. I am all over the map here but wherever I look I see shit.

There's only so much the talent can do when management flies off the handle every single time they try to improvise and drop the terrible material they're given to work with.

The last five years or so have had so much wasted potential. So much incredible talent, so much terrible storytelling. That's not to say the last five years have been devoid of great stuff -- that's not true at all. But I feel like we could have had another golden era of wrestling with the level of talent that's been in the company, and instead we've generally gotten mediocrity.
